My best guess will be 2-3pm will produce more active deer then sunrise and sunset

I also think that if your in the southern half of the state over looking a bean field will be best at this time of day for a big buck

If your looking to just shoot (a) deer i would look for water or accorn tree

You can bet we will be hunting a waterway over looking a bean field

or

A low spot in the bean field next to a corn field

My prediction is outa 3 of us we will shoot a 150 plus class buck by sunset and 1 doe for camp meat if not raining.Yes George even though i never hunted with either 1 of you i'll stick with it just cause i have faith you 2 can shoot.I know you can sit still but not sure you can keep the snoring down to a min

For myself i'm looking at shooting the new state record or else it walks. If i cant get this buck i'll be shooting camp meat.George i sure hope your bringing something to eat it might just be a weight lose weekend with Richard simmons

Good luck to all and have a safe hunting season.Make the best of what you have while you have it

TJM; aka Brian; aka fawn slayer. It will be exciting to hunt down south when everybody else is coming north that weekend. I sure hope I see the state record buck before you do grin.gif. Probably have to make a mad dash north, to get out of your rath! Anyway, I would be more than happy shooting anything over 140 inches on the first weekend; or any weekend for that matter. I am also hoping to shoot a doe for the freezer if the big buck thing doesn't happen. I think with the quarter waning moon it should be good during late morning as well; as long as it is not too hot. Man it is getting close!!

I'll be sitting on acorns in the morning unless the wind is really bad for my spot. We always hunt the same farm on opener, it's tradition. I plan to hunt beans at night if the wind makes it possible. There seemed to be a lot of tracks in the various bean fields I checked a couple of weeks ago when I was out walking around.

Not to rip just find humorous reading your post. Sitting on acorns isn't that uncomfortable and hunting beans. HMMMM Little different up north where I hunt. No beans and very few acorns in our area. I agree with the watering hole though it is still really dry upnorth. The leaves here are really starting to show their color and have noticed in the mornings starting to see more deer. Went out the other evening to where I rifle hunt and the deer are moving a lot. 8 more days.

I'm in the Bemidji area and there isn't much for beans or any crops for that matter in close proximity to public land nearby. It also seems that most of the rain has missed us this summer. Having that said, I will be hunting funnel areas adjacent to water. Acorns have been falling for quite awhile and in some areas are already thinning out fast. It's a different year for sure.

My prediction is that I will be enjoying the opener watching my sons eyes light up at the blaine airport for their first ever plane/helicpoter ride that sight alone will be better than any deer on opening day. Its a suprise so dont say nothing. Watch out on sunday as I to hope to score on that state record buck but I'll settle for a plump doe. I'am hunting a trail that crosses a creek to the food source (acorns). good luck to all of you guys.

Going to change my stands to over looking grass.Beans have all but done turned the deer have switched the last 24 hours to accorns/grass

My prediction is------------- heres a pic of the new state record he's going down by the end of the month by someone. He has about 19 points give or take 1 on his right side and about 14 on his left side.Never stood still long enough to get a good look.

My late season blinds about 10 yards behind him.Oh my would i have loved to been in that stand and him walkin by in Dec.Think i'll be holding out until i know he's dead.I hope to get a better photo during good day light and a lil closer. Then 1 with 1 of are group/this buck
