May not relate to your situation but I have a 2001 Oldmobile Alero (car) and if i fold the seats down (which is a very nice feature by the way!) I can just barely slide my FT Scout in there.. It works very slick and I am very pleased with the setup.. I still get 30MPG highway too! suckas!

muskie junkie- I just bolted 48" 2x4s on my carrier, from the front, sticking of the back, and it works great. plus the wood keeps the shack off the metal edges.

I was thinking about doing that too, do you just strap it down and go? Have you ever had issues with it coming loose back there?

Is the Otter Den (cabin) a one-man? I think the 56" sled is one smaller then the medium then? Granted, 56" is a generous one man space, right?

I wouldn't want to fish all the time with 2 people in my Den, it gets a little tight. But it works for the few times a season I do fish with someone else.

nope, I use the ratchet straps and put 2 (spread out)the short way and 2 (spread out)the long way and it stays nice an tight. Make sure you secure the boards tight to the carrier and you will have no problems

With gas prices on the rise, many people are looking at downsizing to more fuel efficient vehicles. Can anyone comment from experience if your portable flip over shack fits in a smaller suv? i.e. crv, rav4, liberty, escape, etc.

I have an Eskimo 2-man and am looking at a smaller more efficent vehicle - but not at the expense of not being able to haul my shack!

A small trailer or a receiver hitch rack would be the way to go. Your vehicle selection would be wide open then.

Ya a little trailer is really nice. It makes hauling stuff a lot easier and you still have room for people on the inside of the truck. Plus you could just leave the stuff on the trailer (assuming u got a garage) and push it inside with minimal unloading/loading.

Those hitch racks also work nice. I got one for deer hunting (there is no way a dead deer is going inside my blazer) and I use it all the time now. I really like it for camping and a huge cooler fits nicely on it too.

My 08 Taurus X and Otter Medium Cabin are pretty much made for each other. It has a small receiver hitch on it, but it with the 2nd and 3rd row seats flipped down (very simple operation) the sled slides inside with room to spare for auger and other assorted stuff. Just me and one other passenger can ride, but that's just right for this roomy 2-man, eh.
