cheap "round-up"

Recommended Posts

You can say the brand of the product, but to my knowledge if you want to post where to buy it this is considered "commercial" and needs to be okayed by a moderator. You can use the contact us link at the bottom to obtain prior approval to posting. You can say the brand of the product, and when you do pleased indicate the % glyphosate, and if it includes a surfactant pre-mixed in.

I have personally been using Killz-All, which is 41% glyphosate and surfactant already added. This has cost me $85 for 5 gallons. I am always looking for something cheaper so please let us know!!!

Go to any farm supply place and ask for Mirage Herbicide. It is generic round-up and I beleive it is even made by Monsanto. It is the exact same thing, but only cheaper. It costs about $15 per gallon and comes in 2 1/2 gallon containers. You will save alot of money buying from the same place farmers do. Same thing with buying your fertlizer. It cost 1/2 as much when in bluk and not in bags. You can save a lot of money with your shovel and pickup. Put a tarp down in your truck and save $150-$250 per 1500# vs buying bags. You can plant alot more acres for the same cost.

I know this is an old post but if you really wana save money go into your local Co-Op where the farmers buy the chemical. Glystar Plus, Buckaneer and cornerstone plus are all the same product. It's all the same dang thing and the rates are the same as roundup and the price is dang near the same thing. At our store we sell them for about 45 bucks for a 2 1/2 gallon jug of Generic Roundup. Rates are 1 qt/A.

But please not something though. Make sure there is a surfactant included in it. I'm not too familiar with Glystar but if you look at the name and it has the word Plus included you don't need a surfactant. But if it don't have it you'll need to include it into your mixture. This is the big thing most people wont tell you when buying it. I sell Cornerstone Plus because AgriSolutions distributes it and CHS/Agriliance owens AgriSolutions and I work for them. But the thing I wana tell everyone is we also have a product called Cornerstone. Cornerstone does not have the surfactant mixed in but Cornerstone plus does. Same thing with buckaneer. There is a Buckaneer Plus and a regular Buckaneer. So be careful when purchasing your product.

For those that don't know what surfactants are its an oil that is mixed into the mixture and it helps get absorbed by the plants. So it takes less to kill any weeds. I'm sure most of you guys know this but when you are spraying the weeds becareful of Splatter into your eyes. Weare some form of glasses even if it is sunglasses. We had one guy this year get it in his eyes that works for us and it wasn't good. Also when you are spraying becareful that you mix it correctly and not to mix it too weak to save money.

If your starting a new food plot start off by spraying about 1.5-2 qts to kill the origninal grasses. But if you have some brush you wana get rid of mix a little 2-4D into the roundup and spray at about 10-15 Gallons/A depending on how thick it is, thicker raise the rate and vise versa. It will help kill anything that you don't want in the food plot but with the 2-4d becareful of drift.

After you have your food plot established drop your rate down to 1 qt/A and your water down to 10 gallons/A for spray. Tip add in your chemical to a little bit of water then top off your spray tank it will help mix it and it don't hurt to go off roading right away to mix it up good before spraying.

When do you know when to spray your second batch of Roundup. It pays to check your fields and see how the weeds are growing. don't look just at how high the weeds are. Look at the little weeds see how many you will miss if you spray too early. Best bet is to spray about a month to a month and a half after emergence. But it does not hurt your food plot to wait and see what is going on with the weather. Spray in the morning or at dusk when it is cooler and it will not effect your RR crop as much.

If your looking for seed go to your elevator and see if they have any broken bags for sale or buy a 50 lb bag or two. Most elevators will have the bags on hand for sale and also if you go to most Croplan places you can talk to an Agronomist about ordering seed. Croplan and NK seed both make wildlife mixes that are designed to be planted just for deer and are designed to help the deer at certain parts of the year and will help produce bigger racks and get a deer healthy for the winter.

I know this is a lot of information but if anyone has any questions feel free to contact me. I hope I don't get in trouble for saying names but these are the products I'm familiar with. my email is [email protected] I would be happy to answer as many questions as possible.
