Spinner1
I know we aren't quite halfway through the season, but I think it is obvious this is one tough division. I'm an NL guy. I can recall some tough individual AL Central teams through the years. The Twins championship years etc. But has the division overall ever been this nasty? Jarrod32
Yeah...not since the re-alignment of divisions in the early '90s, when the Central Division was created. The Indians had some strong teams for a lot of years, and there were a couple years there when the Indians and Twins both had decent teams...but it has never been four deep the way it is right now.And in inter-league play, the AL Central is hammering the NL Central...and that is impressive, because the NL Central is a strong division, too. Down to Earth
Over the last ten games the Tigers, Sox and Twins are all 9-1. Hard to make up ground if your the Twins when the two teams above you are playing lights out ball as well. Hope we can get two teams in the playoffs. Spinner1
I don't think there is any doubt you'll send two teams. I won't be amazed if the second place team in the Central wins about 95 games. Before the Sox game started tonight, the division was 37-13 last 50 games. Division playing almost .750 ball is unheard of.
Down to Earth
Even the Royals are 7-3 in the last 10 games.
rundrave
Twins on a major tear, unfortanetly so are the Sox and Tigers, all these wins and where has it got us...no where except above .500 and ahead of the struggling tribe. Playoffs still looking grim, but the winning has made this team fun to watch again, and should be interesting to see they if they can make any playoff race at all. soldoncass
Where has it got us????? Even or up a little (depending on what you compare to) . I look at it this way......... Without the winning steak, we'd be WWWAAAYYY DOWN AND OUT OF IT. We are in range and play the teams above us several times yet. That is where we can make up ground. It is an amazing change from last years meltdown, that's for sure. Some of the young guys actually look like they belong up there this year. Spinner1
That's the right attitude soldoncass. The wildcard may look like a longshot for the Twins, but some young players are learning to be winners. That's very important for the long term. A lot of teams with great rosters have no idea how to win consistently.
rundrave
I should have re-phrased my post, I thinks it great, but what I meant was that we are still a long way out, its just frustrating to go on a run like this and only gain 1/2 a game.Your right though it is better than where we started off. Still alot of games to be played, especially among the division.
CodyDawg
Dont forget the sox and tribe play each other a bunch yet too, that is a loss per night for one of them! With a little luck, they will split.
nofishfisherman
Don't worry so much about this year, if we get to the playoffs this year it will be one wild ride to get there but if you look at next year we are settin gourselves up for a real run at the division again. The young guys are proving themselves and gaining experience, Mauer and Morneau are leading the team like they need to, pitching is back to where it should have been all along, and now Cuddy, Kubel, Bartlett, Tiffe, and Punto are getting a chance and playing well and thats what we needed to see.The present may seem bleak yet but the future is looking brighter and brighter. juggs
This means the Yankees may not make the playoffs. More proof of "big market" domination??
