New Vexilar?

From what I heard, the transducers are the same. And for purchasing just the flasher head, you will have to buy it with the gimbal mount feature like the other FL series in the past to get away from the ice fishing packages. Getting the mount is not half bad anyways, then you can mount this onto your boat for open water use.

The screen will be awesome for both hardwater and open water use. No more jockeying around to look at the screen. A great plus in my mind when having more them one person in a ice shelter or when staying on structure using your bow mount!!!

A few more goodies on these units that enhance the already rock solid line of flashers from Vexilar!! There was no need for huge changes in these flashers.. day in and day out they get the job done.. on the ice or on the open water!!

The FL-18 was/has needed to make changes since the introduction of the LX-2 and especially since the LX-5.

[Note from admin: this post has been edited. Let's stay focused on the new FL-20 and away from the personally argumentative please.]

Willy is correct in his statement and the reason why I made mine. I can catch as many fish or maybe even more fish with my Vexilar unit then someone using a Marcum, Lowrance, or now the new TFT screen unit coming from Nature Vision. It is one person's fishing style and how they interpert their flasher, be it Vexilar, Marcum, Lowrance, or now Nature Vision. I can do what you do with your Marcum, and that is catch fish!!! So as I stated, there was no reason to change a good thing, just give us Vexilar consumers and others who are looking to upgrade more good things to an already rock solid flasher!!!

I am glad Marcum is doing well with their flasher, a good unit non the less, but they are not the type of flasher I need for my fishing style. And the FL 20 will just make my time fishing that much more enjoyable with it's new features.

But again, like was stated before, this is not a post to bash on any product, but to discuss a new product.

This flasher is just another step up at improving their Fl-18. Its a little better so your going to pay a little more.

If it would of been something totally different they might as well of went and named it a Fl-28 and keep that tradition up!

It just has a little more zoom and no more sun visor on it.

Looks like a great unit to me. To bad I like my Fl-18 too much that I dont think I need the new Fl-20. Even though I do like the new screen, I dont need to spend $500 just for that!

My dad has a Marcum and I dont like it. It takes to much time to learn a new unit over and to get used to it. But once you get used to a single unit, its just as good as anything else out there!

Wait tell ya see the new Vex light....super bright power friendly LED's....very user friendly and will work on all units new and old. A huge upgrade from the old light system. My vote is it is a winner.

Just so I understand this, the new flat screen is supposed to eliminate the need for a sun shield in bright sunlight? If that is the case, I like it. The only thing is I just got my FL-18 two years ago, but I suppose like all the Vexilars I have had, I will get the FL-20 in due time. I really need to see the demo model somewhere to get a better view of what it does/offers.I am looking forward to seeing this newer addition to Vexilar's flashers.

I just saw Vex Direct has the new FL-20 listed with prices. The price for the dual beam FL-20 it is $570.

Compared to other dual beam premium units out there that is much higher in price. Just my .02..

Don't know if any of you guys have heard about this yet or not . . . but you might want to also consider the new Aqua-Vu VPG sonar. It's a whole different slant on the ice sonar techonology scene. From what I understand, it will initially retail at just under $200, so it's probably something a lot of anglers should consider-- especially given Jeff Zernov's history within the sonar industry.

Same guy whom invented the buzz stick. It's my favorite coffee stirrer grin.gif

Just be careful with the words "should consider". Actually I would switch them to "Should be aware it's a 1st year unit" from a guy that owned Zercom Marine. blush.gif

I like the decent introductory price if it performs as designed.. Even if the rumours are true and it's developed by vex alot of folks had to send there 1st year FL-18 units in for the Version 2 upgrade and that was on a $400 dollar unit. I would wait until more is available on this before making the leap same thing with the FL-20...

I see you posted this under the "New Vexilar?" thread so maybe you know this already., is this unit made by hondex?
