Yes pig-n-jig. I was out this afternoon/evening and crawling the jig or the crawl-n-sit method was working. They were in/around wood today. I was working a fairly large profile pig-n-jig today, and I didn't catch anything under three pounds today.

Sluggo,

I see you're from Buffalo. I live in Rogers. Not sure if you're ever looking for a fishing partner, but let me know if you are.

I'd like to learn some tactics for fall bass. I have a boat and would be willing to take it out or hop in with you if you ever have an open seat.

Let me know.

Fever,

I've been having my best luck fishing real slow, weightless wacky rigged senkos, 10 inch power worm with an 1/8 oz. weight, jig and pig (real slow) and a 4 inch flippin tube with a 3/8 oz weight (real slow)..

It seems as though they just look at it for awhile and then they have been picking it up very softly.

I haven't had any luck with crankbaits or spinnerbaits. This cold spell has made a difference in the normal fall bite. Hopefully it will settle down next week and we can get into the Motherlode! Ha! I hope!

I use zoom super chunks on most of my jig and pig stuff.

Good luck and stay warm! Let me know how you did!

I second fishing very SLOW right now..from everything i read about fall fishing is too fish fast to locate them.. well i have been fishing fast and nothing.. last week i slowed way down.. using texas style and a big tube.. fishing the deeper water in the bays..10-15 feet of water.. the bite has phenomenal.. i would give it a shot if the bite is slow.. let it sink to the bottom, let it sit..pull it a foot..let it sit..pull it a foot..fish very very slow..i was rewarded with some pigs..

Made it out today. Hit Waverly & was the only one out there... Big surprise. Ended up with 19 Bass and just missed one real respectable pike. Largest Bass was 18.75 inches and smallest was around 12-13 or so. Got out there at 10am and left at 3pm. I threw jig-n-pig, DT10 & DT6, skitter pop, Rattle trap, Chatter bait, Buzz bait, and spinnerbaits. By far the best producers today were the Chatterbait and Spinnerbait. Most retreves were rather fast and the fish were hammering my offerings HARD. Caught two nice 17 - 18 inchers on the buzzbait right away. Then started with the chatter and it was game on... worked the weedline, about 7-11 fow and most of the bigger fish came from the deeper side while the smaller fish came from the shallower side. The pike (guessing around 30 or so inches) took a strike at the chatter while it was nearly in the boat. All I could manage was a four letter word as it shot like a lightning bolt in and out of view... No takers at all on my slow presentations. Maybe not slow enough. The quicker approaches were producing so it was tough to change tacktics and get no results. When the sun started to show itself early afternoon the bite was on. Nice day (a bit on the chilly side but still nice). Water temp was 46-48 degrees, air temp around 45 or so. I'll give it a shot again tomorrow late afternoon. Different lake though. Maybe try the jig or the worm technique then. Later...

What Cedar are you refering to? Near Annandale? Seems late for a Frog bite... I hit Eagle near NYA on Friday... Skunked in three hours of casting... I'm almost possitive that the lake just turned. It was far greener/stained, with ALOT of floating junk everywhere. I fish that lake often as it is in my back yard so to speak and I've never seen it so gross looking. Anyway, tried chatterbait, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, rattle traps, 10 inch worms, jig-n-pig, charchuse DT-10, black gold shad rap #7.... Not one single bite. Very odd... What a difference from the day before. But the water on Waverly was very clear and Eagle must have just turned... That is the only logical explaination as I usually have real good luck there. smirk.gif

Boy you guys are hardcore fishing with this weather we're having. It feels like late November out there. I'm still hoping for some warmer days ahead. Wednesday I'm heading out! It's either take the boat out or, grab the waders and head to the river! Haven't decided yet.

Would like to go to Inde for an afternoon of Muskie fishing followed by a late afternoon walleye bite but the access is closed and it sounds like a big hassle to try and get on the lake. Oh well!

was cedar lake rice county, thought maybe to late for frogs too,but my partner was having luck with them so thats what we stuck with, were fishing right out from a slough area thats as detailed as i'll get.but that was 3 weeks ago,its gotta be done by now.was on mazaska sun what a mess junk floating all over, some of these lakes must have just turned, and nobody caught a bass or walleye on sun so im guesssing between turnover and the cold front it has everything shut down for right now,but it looks like decent weather for this week,so i'll be back out again, hopefully its changed for the better smile.gif

Spent a couple of hours on the whitefish chain this afternoon. Did manage to catch a decent number of bass. No whoppers, but most in the 15-18in. range. Caught a couple little slimers, too. All but two were on rat-l-traps in about 7-8fow. The others on dt-10s just off the weedline. The water temp was 45 degrees. I hope I can make it out a couple of more times. I only saw one other boat the whole time. Kinda nice.

The fish were still biting yesterday. Juan Grande and I were out for a couple of hours and picked up some decent fish on jigs. I'm going to hit it the next few days and see if it slows down. The water was anywhere from 43-45 depending on where you were on the lake. smile.gif

Don't put away the long rods yet, still some fishing to be done. I picked up the 20"er in my avatar last night, along with two more 18"ers. I told myself that I was going to stick with a jig/pig combo this fall, never really fished em before, and I've been able to get some fish on it. So I'm gaining some confidence in that presentation, just got to keep workin it I guess.

Good job on sticking with the pig-n-jig. That is my go-to bait. However, don't be shy about throwing a shallow crankbait this time of year. It will help to find good fish. Normally, you can pick up some big fish in the same area with a jig that you catch the other fish on with a crankbait.

Crankbaits and jigs have been getting it done for me this week. Work everything super slow. I had two fish crush a jig like it was mid July on Thrusday night, man that was fun. The fall bite is still on if you keep it slow. Water temp 44-45 in the west metro.

I was out parts of the last three days in the chisago area. averaging about 1-2 an hour. The only bite i have gotten has been dragging small jigs through and out of any remaining weeds left. the lakes must not have a very good weedline in the summer. the average size has been nice. it has been frustrating at times. there will be no fish for and then there will be a strech that has some fish.hope this helps.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
