WOW... I figured they wouldn't bring him back now that they are going for the clean cut image.

Onterrio Smith: Will be Welcomed Back by Vikings

RotoWire.com Staff - RotoWire.com

Sunday, April 9, 2006

Update: Smith (drug suspension) is eligible for reinstatement by the league next month and the Vikings say they will welcome back to the team. "The way this coaching staff responds to players, this would be the right environment for him to move his career forward," owner Zygi Wilf told the St. Paul Pioneer Press. "But all that's subject to his reinstatement."

Recommendation: Smith is a wild card for the 2006 fantasy season as it's hard to know what kind of shape he'll be in physically or mentally after missing a season due to third violation of the league's drug policy. However, if he's reinstated it looks like the coaching staff may let him contend for a sizable role.

If the team was willing to get rid of two proven players (Moss and DC)for personality conflicts or whatever and do it for next to nothing, they should be willing to dish the Original Whizzinator for a draft deal. wink.gif

Onterrio Smith will not be re-instated this year.

BY SEAN JENSEN

St. Paul Pioneer Press

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Suspended Vikings running back Onterrio Smith has been notified by the NFL that he will not be reinstated next month, according to a source close to Smith.

Last June, Smith was suspended one year for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, and he checked himself into a three-month, live-in rehabilitation facility in Massachusetts shortly thereafter.

Smith, 25, did not return a phone call seeking couldn't be reached for comment Tuesday. The Vikings and the NFL declined comment.

I just seen on Startrib that they Vikes terminated his contract. That's too bad he was a good RB, him and Taylor probably could have been a pretty good combo. It's amazing that these guys are getting millions of bucks and can't keep the dope out of their bodies for a few years.
