Lake Guntersville in Alabama is a top 5 Bass lake that should be prime at that time. Lake Amistad or Lake Fork in Texas would be a great destination too. Or even Lake Dixon in California, there's a 25lb Bass swimming around in there.

You have any good locations to fish for the smallies on Pool 4?

I was down in Alabama this last week and I talked to some guys who said guntersville is an absolutley amazing bass lake. I did get to fish a bit in a pond at the camp I was staying at for the week, managed a couple little bass and a few crappies before I accidentaly stepped next to a cottonmouth. Thankfully both I and the snake decided to be scared into the opposite directions.

Yes, I stepped in one of those as well(fireant hill). Fortunatley I realized it and got my shoe off before they made it to my leg so i didn't get bit at all. Those little buggers really swarm ya.

I was down fishing Lake Guntersville 3 weeks ago. I have an uncle that lives in Atlanta wich is only a three hour drive to the lake and he invited me down for a long weekend. The fishing was great for the first day and then a cold front rolled through and the day time high's droped 20 degrees and the fishing slowed way down. It is always nice to go soft water fishing this time of year even if it is tough. That lake is a great place to fish this time of year. I would go back in a heart beat. Guntersville.jpg

Here's some good info on Lake Amistad

http://www.texasfishingforum.com/.ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=027119

Amistad would be rocks and wood

Guntersville would be weeds

I'd love to be going to either one, whatta deal Possible by late April early May you may find fish more active in Texas/Mexico. Guntersville may be more post spawn.

Or can one dream of El Salto? That's definitely early summer pattern down there.

I'd look at Tennessee or Arkansas. I think if you go south of there you will be past spring time prime. Dale Hollow in TN is a great fishery but can be very tough. Reelfoot also in TN is quite an experience for northern fishermen. It is an old cypress swamp that was flooded in the 1800's by an earth quake. Good largemouth and excellant crappie fishing.

Although I haven't fished Reelfoot in many years it would get a lot of my attention. If you go to Reelfoot don't take your own boat. Way too many stumps logs and the like. I would stay east of the outlet for shortest access to good fishing for LM and crappie.
