caseymcq
I have a 2004 GMC Sierra 1500. I want to get a set of BFG All Terrain tires. I would like to get the biggest tires I can leaving the suspension stock and no body lift. Does anyone know if 285's will fit on the truck without any modification? 0 Valv
I just bought a 1994 Suburban 3/4ton, and it has Bridgestone 286/85/16 on it, they added a 2" lift kit, I don't think they will fit otherwise.I installed mud flaps to help keeping truck clean, tires are so large they rub on them when I turn.If you add larger tires you will have to add probably flares and big mud flaps, or you'll throw everything you drive on on your side paint. 0 iffwalleyes
Hanson has 285's BF's on his '99 Sierra without any modifications to his truck. It looks sweet. At least you are looking at BF's they are the best tires on the market. I am on my 3 set and have gotten over 60K out of each of the first two sets and I have never had any flat on any of them. 0 hanson
Yeah. You should be good to go. Here's a photo of the 285 All-Terrains on my Sierra. Clearance is tight but I have yet to rub anything with them.
0 MuskyNutz
Casey (aka:snapperhead) The 285's aren't a problem on that thing. It'll look great. Your speedo will be off by 2-3 mph at 55-60 but that's the worst that will happen. I know your gonna go with BFG's so when you price them make sure you check around for quotes and then call D.G. Towing in Pequot when you're back home. They have been the cheapest I've found so far. How about Vermillion for opener this year? Or don't you want to mess with slot fish now. 0 nytelyter
as far as the speedo being off. next time you have it into the shop. have them reprogram the speedo to match your tires. it is that easy. .... paul
0 caseymcq
Thank you all for the replies. Especially you Nutz. I showed Kelly your post and she thought when you said my speedo would be off by 2 - 3 mph at 55 to 60 that you were making a reference to a swimsuit that accentuates all of my shapely features. I am going to look at getting different rims and have the BFG's for winter tires and keeping the Bridgestones for the spring and summer. The 265's that are one there now didn't perform so hot in the snow (I had to shovel once). I am not sure what I am doing for opener yet. My dad is coming up here and I don't know if we are going to fish Birch or Vermillion. You need to make it up here to fish those big stink fish that you are so fond of. 0 FL SNIPER
BFG All Terrain T/A Tires.....worth every penny! Performance, Life, Looks (if you're into that).....they do it all.
0 caseymcq
Hanson - Have you done anything to the suspension of your truck (Tighten the torsion bars? Different shocks? Etc?)to keep it from rubbing? Or is the suspension in your truck still the way it came?
0 hanson
Its still the way it came.
0 ChuckN
I just put 265-70-17 BFG AT/KOs on my F150. I bought my tires new online for a heck of a lot less money and had my local co-op install them.I didn't want to go to 285s. The last time I upgraded my tires to a larger size I lost a lot of power and mpg. Those were BFG's too, but on a different truck.BFG's are incredible and my favorite! Quieter than my bald tires I just got rid of!
