LX-3 in a canoe?

I'm planning on doing the same with my Lowrance X67c. I've got a skimmer transducer that I will rig up if need be, but I am going to try just shooting through the hull (aluminum) with my ice transducer. I'm hoping that if I glob some grease (or maybe KY jelly?) on the transducer and plop it on the bottom of the canoe, it'll shoot through just fine.

Marcums are great for portability! Pour some water on the floor of the boat to make a puddle and place the transducer in the water.

Edit - While typing this response I see marine man said the same thing grin.gif

You just answered my pondering as to how one would make a small puddle on the floor without filling the whole canoe with 1/2" of water :-) Great idea!

Does anyone know if this will work through a plastic canoe? Not glass or kelvar, but plastic.

I would use vaseline, it should stick to the hull fairly well, and stay there if you put it in an out of the way area. It will also be easy to remove. Make sure you cover the whole face of the puck. You can also silicon it right to the bottom, it will work through the plastic. It should peel off after use.
