Shed Hunting Success

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if anyone has had any luck finding sheds. We have a hunting cabin by Cloquet and we've found several sheds in the last month up their. However, in the north metro where I live all the bucks seem to still have antlers, according to the trail camera's. I talked to a friend yesterday who lives near St. Cloud and all his deer he's seen lately still hold their antlers.

What have you guys been finding in your pursuits??

i have been out twice around the metro area. I havent found any sheds. I also havent seen any bucks with antlers still. All does. My uncle found a shed that was 70 inches on just one side. That was 2 weeks ago in the metro area. He also saw bucks with there antlers still. hope this helps you. I might go try it again next weekend.

Seen some bucks during muzzy season that had dropped 1 side back then.I know for a fact 5 bucks in the 110 class had both sides the day before i seen those bucks from my deer stand.

Seen some bucks on the way back from the big pond that had 1 side but they were little forks and 3 pointers no big boys.Went over to the park never saw 1 buck with antlers all were bald

Met a guy on the lake who had found what he claimed to be 227" non typical 17 pointer dead just off the snowmobile trail while making a pit stop.Stated he was from Isle area found it last week.He also stated it was a day or so old no animals on it no sign of poaching either. We saw the pic it was big not sure if it was 227" but very impressive

We had a half dozen bucks coming into the feeder and all but one dropped their horns at the beginning of the month. It all happened in about a weeks time. The biggest buck still had his rack the last we saw him. We found most of the other bucks sheds around the feeding area.

If anyone from the Rochester south side area finds left side shed 6 point score around the mid to high 80" mark please contact me or rappinjack

Base should be close to 7" around with about 24-25" main beam.No need to look for the other side i have it.

Prety sure someone has the left side looks like fresh shed hunters tracks in the same area

Iron Man,

there are several places that can be good to look, i always start with fence lines where deer have to jump over them, many times when bucks land on the other side it will jar an antler loose. downed trees, small creeks or anything else deer need to jump over are great places to look. my nieghbor found five sheds last week, they were all within 5 yds of where is feeding them corn, so that would be another good spot to look if you are winter feeding.

the most important thing is probably looking in areas that you know have several bucks in them.

still haven't found number 1 for this year.

good luck.

Hey guys...long time follower, decided it's time to post since I actually have something to post. Been out shed hunting quite a bit and have picked up 2 so far. Nothing big, but it's better than coming home empty handed. I was going to get out and hit it hard this weekend, but this new blanket of snow really put a damper on my plans!!
