imgonnamisshim
I agree-it was quite a wate of four hours (and a waste of trackpass-granted, Jr. got down on the crew, mostly the spotter for telling him he was clear on the outside and whoops, he wasn't...) Too bad today was so lame, now next week is Busch only, but then the fun begins!
LMITOUT
Thank goodness for DVR. Watched the Busch and Cup race tonight in about 45min, mostly in FF.... Terrible track.
eyepatrol
I watched a good portion of the race, but didn't mind missing a chunk of it to help celebrate my dad's b-day and play with the kids. Extremely uneventful for the most part. A guy only really needed to watch the green-white checkered and he would have gotten the jist of the race. JohnMickish
If your a Ford fan it was pretty good. But yes, I'd trade California for Rockingham anyday. There is nothing better than TIVO, it's the only way to watch a race nowdays.
Uncle Bill
I was only able to watch the last 40 laps.Probley a boring race for most, but I sure did like the finish.Go # 17 !!
metrojoe
The last 40 were the only laps to watch. Glad to see #17 get the win after what happened last week.(#20 blew his motor..muffled sniggering... ) Like they say: "What goes around, comes around"
JKing
I didn't get to watch much of the race but it doesn't sound like I missed much. I could of used a nap though Here is what Kenseth even said after the race. "I love coming to California," he said, "but when we went to Rockingham ... it's just an awesome race track. You could really race there like we used to race -- spinning the tires and short-track type racing. It was like a week off after being in Daytona for two weeks. I love this place, but I loved going there too." Bring back Rockinham!!!!!!
Sifty
I listen to the race on the way home from Red Lake it sounded as they where looking for somthing to talk about. They made a huge deal out of the two engines that blew on the 20 and the 16. I guess now that I typed that the where major players. Nice to see the 17 get a win.Sifty
outdoor ran
Hard to believe theres race fans out there that like these types of tracks over super speedways and short tracks. This race was so boring. It was like watching cars on the freeway. Except the cars on the freeway were closer to each other.
JohnMickish
From what I read there where between 15 and 20,000 empty seats there. I saw empty seats at daytona too. How come they don't take those dates away?
lawdog
They probably still had more people at Cali with 20,000 empty seats than Rockingham could sell, that's one of the problems. The other is, they just want so badly to have a big presence there with all those people to market too.
JohnMickish
Yep, the #2 market in the country. How far is Vegas from there, like 3.5 hours? We have to realize the sport is no longer that, as sport. It has merged with entertainment and now the most important thing is money, not long term fans that can remember when Rusty was in a Pontiac (yes you newbies, Pontiac used to be a force, along with Oldmobile and Buick)Penske was at Indy and Kirk Shelmerdine was the best crewchief in the land, not a hope and a prayer team. Ricky Rudd was in the 5 Chevy and K. Schrader was in the 25 Bud, both for Hendrick. As much as I like to watch it I have to realize I am no longer the target audience. Is anyone else getting tired of hearing "for those of you that are new to the sport, let me explain..." Ok, I'm sorry for the rant. My Dr. says the new medication should start working in a few days. Since we're talking about money, why is it so expensive for tickets at Kansas Speedway?
JohnMickish
It's expensive everywhere, but at Kansas they sell that one out, easily. Joe, I'm not ragging on people that are new to the sport, because it's been good. They cover alot of stuff now. I remember when they didn't even show all the cup races, let alone the Busch series. It's been good but sometimes I wish they had two broadcast, one with Dr. Jerry Punch just for me!!

metrojoe
I was thinking of taking a long weekend and head down there with the family in October, but it would cost over $1200 just to walk through the gate. I think I'll just buy a 12 pack, a nice porter house for each of us to throw on the grill and watch the race on the big screen. I figure it should save me around $2000. lawdog
ya its spendy, but on the other hand, everybody who's a NASCAR fan should experience a race weekend at the track at least once in their lives. Its just like that commercial says, a three (or four) day tailgate party, almost like a huge festival really. No other sporting event can compare to parking your RV at the track for a weekend of NASCAR racing!!!!
