LX-3 question?

mnhunter2

Question

I have been having a lot of trouble getting my lx-3 to find my lure and when I do find it the yellow line comes and goes, this weekend fishing in 10' of water over a soft bottom and no weeds with a ratso and wax worms I could see my lure only some of the time, is the some adjustment I should be making adjusting the gain hasn't helped. My old fl-8 works better.

Were you able to find your lure only after turning the gain up a ways? You should be able to see your lure with the gain below 2 in the situation you described. The battery was charged up as well I assume?? Chances are, your transducer is going bad. This is a problem that Marcum is aware of and they will be able to fix it for you with a new transducer. I would contact Marcum Customer Service soon and describe your symptoms to them. You may have to be without your unit for a few days but you'll be glad it got fixed.

I had similar problems with my LX-3 unit. I called the Marcum customer service number, and was immediately given a return authorization number. I mailed the unit to Brainerd, and I had it back in 3 business days. Unbelievable...

I also sent along a check for $49, for the tech update...

The clarity and sensitivity of the unit adjustments is much better now... I'm quite satisfied.

I only wish that Marcum had sent out a notice to registered LX-3 owners describing the problem...

Ditto to what Koochiching said. I could not believe it was back in three days. They have great customer service and the new colors are great. I had exactly the same problem you have and now it works like a charm. Email them and get your RA and send her in. I will cost you about ten bucks for shipping and fifty more if you want new colors. They are great.

Been through the same thing also. I can almost certain that it's your transducer. It seems like all the lx-3 that were not the new TC came with bad transducers. Make sure you get a BRAND NEW transducer not a refurbish BRAND NEW one. I got refurbish NEW one, the first time, from Marcum and it didn't help anything. All old ducers had 3 contact points on the cable that goes to the head and the new ones only have two contact points. Those old LX-3 had bad tranducers that should have got recalled, but great service with Marcum.

Actually it was a small number of LX3 units compared to production numbers. The problem was with an adhesive I believe that failed inside the ducers shell. I have an original run LX3 that's never given me a lick of trouble and that unit takes some abuse. Anywho, Marcum WILL take care of you regardless. Their service is awesome.

I have the new LX-3tc and It makes a humming noise like a vexilar. Now I thought I was getting away from that noise when I bought the lx. Is there something wrong with it. Its something I can live with everything else works wonderful. If it can be fixed that would be great
