Walterwontfalter
Anyone know of a good campground on Lake Vermillion? Forest Service type with individual sites preferred.
Ranckenstuff
Do a Search in the Vermilion forum. There are options for you.

ironman
Get a good map of the lake..there are a few island camp sites that are really nice. It's first come first server. Just have to find a place to park. When we did it, we just paid a few bucks a day to park at a reasort. It's the only way to go if you want privacy. However if showers and plumbing is what you seek..better stay at an actual campground. I cant wait to island camp on the big V again.
wrench
I stayed at a place called Hoo Doo point campgrounds years ago. Thought it was nice in that you could pull your boat next to your site. As I recall in was in tower.
Walterwontfalter
Thanks for the replies. A bunch of us do an annual fishing trip in the spring and it started out going into the BWCA and since some of the guys are in their 80's now we like to stay at a campground that we can pull a fifth wheeler into one site for the old timers and throw up a couple tents for the younger guys where there is a place for a campfire for all of us to sit around and cook on. Also, it's nice if the campsites are a little bit more seperated from eachother, like with some trees or brush so there's a little privacy and we don't have to go around whispering. Mr. Nailz
I think Hoo Doo Point would be a great place for you guys. Their sites are seperated pretty well. They also have some group sites that would work for you. It's only a couple of miles out of Tower. One of the nice things is that the public access is right next to the campground. art
I like the idea of being able to have your boat at your semi-secluded site. My wife and I love fishing vermilion, esp. for muskie. I've gleaned enough info from this site to establish a bit of a pattern in that the eastern lake is better for musky than the western, where we have stayed in the past with no results. And I've heard good things about Hoo Doo. Question; do they take reservations for lakeside sites or is it first come first served. What would one do? upnorth
We have stayed at Wake Em Up Bay Campgrounds on the west end and it would fit your needs fairly well. There is an open field at bottom portion of the campground that may not suit your need very well, but the back side and up the hill should work pretty good. They are pretty much no frills without water and electric, but it is a bit cheaper than say Hoo Doo point.
DTro
also check out wakemup campgrounds on the west (cook) end. It's got a little more of a primitive woodsy feel.
upnorth
Dude that is what I posted But it is a pretty nice campground, I like it better than Hoo Doo myself, less hub bub!

Walterwontfalter
Thanks everyone. I think I'm going to make a drive up there to peek before our trip once the snow melts. Thanks again for all the replies.
