Ill second the switch box. Exact same problem on my same motor. $275.00 dollars later runs fine. Mercury dealer says there is no way to test them.

when is the kids waterfowl hunt. is it one week or two weeks before regular opener?

pics have been sent. dont know if its a long or short shaft but it is 28 inches from the top of transom to centerline of the prop. May be able to locate the service manual for it.
