0 Gofishleech
I don't now anything about the motor but I was just at L&M and I am almost positive I saw it for $695,, you might be able to save $100. 0 IFallsRon
I'm intrigued by the Briggs & Stratton. I've looked at them at Fleet Farm.
0 Johnsonator
I have seen these motors a few times at gander mountain and my local hardware store. I am not so sure they would be that good for a kicker. I might be wrong but from what I saw of them the exhaust is omitted in the air not the water so I bet it would be pretty loud, it also looked like it was air cooled because I did not see a water hole for the water to pee out. I bet it would sound like a lawn mower. I kind of think it was made for duck hunters and shallow muddy water areas. They do make them in camo too. 0 joshb
i agree with johnsonator, that and they have no shroud to protect them if you take a big wave over the back end. definatley louder than a yami.
0 Guest
The briggs is not a smart buy. They are extremely loud, they vibrate really badly, and they are not a four stroke--they are a four cycle two stroke. They are basically a 5 horse lawnmower engine with a prop. They do not pump water at all--they are air cooled. The price might seem nice, but I assure you that you will not be happy with the buy. Gander does however, sell it for 695.
0 Lost
I've seen these at G.M. and Trails End. I was quite interested in them myself for a while but why would I want to hook up a lawn mower engine to a boat? All it has is some extra stuff running down the shaft to spin the prop. I've seen them at G.M. mainly during hunting season. Trails End had them in their "garage sale" clearance area for about the same price as G.M.'s usual price.I can only imagine how loud the thing is. 0 Chris-Neises
What is a 4-cycle two stroke? That statement makes me curious about the rest of the comments. I think this would be an ideal boat for someone with a small boat.
0 IFallsRon
Four stroke and four cycle are interchangable terms. The four strokes of the internal combustion engine are as follows (and in order): Intake, Compression, Power, and Exhaust. These four strokes require two revolutions of the crankshaft. The process continuously repeats itself during the operation of the engine. So, if a four-cylinder engine requires two complete revolutions of the crankshaft to ignite all of its cylinders, how many revolutions does an eight-cylinder engine require.Two-stroke or two cycle engines fire every time the cylinder turns. There's no valves. For an extra $100, you can get the B&S in camo.
0 Ufatz
I would RUN as fast as I can to get AWAY from that monstrosity. Frankly I was amazed the first time I saw one of them-I couldn't believe (a) that anybody would build something like it and ( that they would think anybody would be fool enough to buy it!! Clumsy, ugly, NOISY, fuel hungry and with the usual B&G off and on again operational dependability.Don't do it!! HA!
0 Surface Tension
For 600 bucks you can buy a darn good used 6 hp Rude or Johnson and it'll be a mich better motor. I wouldn't buy the Brigs.
