Bobby Bass
Thanks Brad for at least making the Vikings season a little interesting on the playing field. I for one hope he returns for another season. It will be as a back up but nice to know he will be around to help the starting QB and will be there if needed. Give credit to someone in the Vikings for picking up a good back up..
buzzsaw
Also, thanks Brad for being a player on the Vikings that has a Super Bowl ring. That was for my buddy Otto.
otto_man
Yeah, thanks Brad for beating the Packers twice! I wonder, did culpepper hurt his knee while getting that lap dance??
buzzsaw
Quote: Yeah, thanks Brad for beating the Packers twice! Thats almost too bad, I think it would have been better if the Vikes lost or split with da cheese so they would fall farther in the draft postion. otto_man
by the way buzz, wouldn't surprise me to see the pack trade their first pick and get extra players in the deal. just seems like thompson would pull the trigger on something like that. nofishfisherman
Actually Brad was on the bench for the first packer win.Culpepper beat the pack once and Brad beat the pack once.Come to think of it I think everyone beat the pack once. blue_healer_guy
What the post should have said is thanks DEFENSE. Brad didn't win a ball game for us, the D did. Thanks for laying an egg the last 2 weeks BRAD! The undeserved Culpepper bashing continues.
milnortech
If you think brad layed an egg the last two games you didnt watch the offensive line colapse on almost every down. The way it looks to me is the offense needs to start from scratch. The QB'S aren't the problem. buzzsaw
The Vikes have been blitzed sooo much the last two weeks! If the Bears had something to play for they would certainly do the same, and they may anywho. We miss Birk!! Liweinski and Marcus Johnson were major disapointments. bucketmouth64
Have any of you heard some of Brad's comments? Sounds like he don't want to stay here if he isn't the starter. I think he should come into next season as the starter and see how Daunte is physically/mentally. Seems like his competitive ego is getting the best of him. Isn't he mid 30's. I don't think anyone would want him as a starter long term. Maybe one or two seasons at best. He should realize that he will now be a backup the rest of his playing days. Didn't Vikes sign him to a long contract too (4 years)? He's done all he can as a pro, he should start teaching the younger qbs what it takes to be a winner and how to read defenses. Sandbar
Here is the article from the Star Tribune. I believe he turns 37 this year. I would like to see him start and run the west coast offense. Speaking publicly for the first time since the regular season ended, Vikings quarterback Brad Johnson told ESPN that he wants to start --for someone -- in 2006. He confirmed the essence of a Star Tribune report that he prefers not to return to the Vikings as a backup to presumptive starter Daunte Culpepper. Johnson, who completed 62.6 percent of his passes with 12 touchdowns and four interceptions in 2005, said on ESPN's "Outside the Lines" he believes he can start for another three or four more years. Johnson has three years remaining on a contract he signed last March. Culpepper is recovering from major surgery to his right knee, and it is not known whether he will be healthy enough to open the season as starter. Perhaps acknowledging that fact, Johnson told ESPN, "These things have a way of working themselves out."
Bobby Bass
Brad has been making noise about starting for several weeks, I don't have a problem with it, he put up the numbers and the wins to back up starting, besides I would rather have a QB who wants to start then one who is content to be a back up. Like that fire..DC is the starting QB you don't lose out to injury but with a west coast offense he may not be ready to be a starter in 06 Brad has played in the west coast system. New coach, new QB ? DC was Tice's starter...
