minnow head?

I've read in numerous previous posts about tipping with a minnow head. I'm wondering how you hook the head on a jig, spoon, and/or rapala?? what do you do with the rest of the body?

CHUM BABY CHUM!!! Usualy just pinch it off right behind the front fins, hook it threw the lips and drop the rest down the hole, well thats what I do anyhow.

I use minnow heads on my Spoons all the time. I hook it from under the mouth up through and out between the eyes. I have very good success doing it that way. It is my favorite way to fish. Oh yeah, I usually drop the body of the minnow down th hole. Good luck to you.

I hook the head like MJB, but you should always put the back half in your buddy's beer.

I have been exerimenting with pinching the minnow in half, instead of behind the gills. I always pinch rather than cut though. I like the guts hanging out a little bit.

I usually try to pinch the minnow, leaving a little meat and "stuff" hanging behind the head. However, I save the tail and use that too. I think the tail is a little is a little more flexible than the head, and gives a little different action than the head. Some days the fish actually seem to prefer the tail section over the head section.

I just pinch the minnow off behind the pec. fins, I pinch rather than cut the minnow, as I feel it releases more scent if it is pinched. Then just run the hook into the mouth and up thru the head. I then pinch a Berkley power maggot (not gulp) in half and put that on the hook, this keeps the minnow head on the hook better, even when jigging hard with a spoon.

Word of caution. When pinching minnow heads or maggots, be sure to use the other hand for the beef jerky!

Remember to pop the air bladder on the half that you are sending down the hole.

If your using the minnow head for scent, why not rub the guts and juices on the lure your using for a little extra scent?
