ATTENTION ALL-Is there something wrong?

I have been experiencing very slow hook-ups, surfing and posting, about as slow as dial-up here at the FM site lately. Anyone else been having problems? I have been to numerous other sites on the net today with no problems. Did I inadverently screw up some setting here at FM?

there was a thread a day or two ago about this.. your not the only one, Rick is aware of the problem i believe and im guessing he will have it fixed soon, cant wait..I need my hourly fixes faster My guess is that it is all the traffic on the pages due to everyone so excited about first ice, most i saw was 160 something in the ice fishing forum this week and other ones lik URL and LOTW up close to 100 at the same time.

Ya ya.....lots of chatter slowing things down. We have basically outgrown our server and need to find some expansion. That is slated for a couple weeks down the pike, so if you guys ca bear with us we certainly would appreciate it. It is a real toughie for those with dial up, but even hi speed and pipelines are getting pinched.

On a second note, while this may be an inconvenience for a sort time here, it is also a sign that the site is doing something phenominally good. The growth from a year ago has topped the 38% mark. That is a lot of people signed up here and the lurker ratio is one to five. It is not only our staffing that has made this growth possible, it is also you, the reader, who shares time and knowledge here that creates such an overwhelmingly grand site! That being said....I'd like to offer all of the readership, registered or not, a huge thank you for creating the need for new wraps. For now though, the pants we've outgrown will have to stay up with the help of suspenders I'm afraid.

I think Rick must have fixed something because the last couple hours FM is cooking like old times. Super Fast.

Rick is in Manitoba. Fishing again. Of course. When we get into the evening hours the site will speed up some. On weekends though look to see difficulty when everyone starts posting on the day's adventures in late afternoon and early evening. Or during the day if the weather dumps on us.

We are in the process of upgrading. We have to be very careful how we do this to minimize downtime.

Hope to have it completed this week so we can get back to good server speed.

The growth in traffic here the past few weeks has been nothing short of amazing.

That is a HUGE increase IMO over the last year Crappie Tom! I can remember when I first got on the site and didn't know what to expect. Now with the numbers in members and annoymous readers out there coming over from the dark side ......this is only great news!!
