First Ice

I know everybody is gettind pumped up to get out on the ice this winter. So lets make our guesses, what date does everybody think there is going to be good ice to get out on this year. I'm guessing December 10th. But remember, first ice can be very deceptive. Although the first ice may look safe, it may not be, use caution.

I live in Cannon Falls which is about 40 min south of the cities and I was able to get out for the first time with 3 inches of ice on December 3rd. Hopefully this year it will be earlier. In past years we have been able to fish many of the smaller ponds in the area by thanksgiving.

I hope the cold weather comes early for two reasons. (1.) early ice fishing and (2.) some snow for deer hunting (its been awhile since we've had that for the 3B season). Come on freezing temps!!!

November 29th, just hoping to be out by then

Jiggin, do you know any of the Van Zulien boys from around Fairbo? Most of them like to ice fish that live in that area, they all have the houses that are narrow on the bottom then flair out on the sides for the bunks, they can slide in the box of a truck.
