I only own a little over half that stuff & probably would only take half again of that on any one hunt. I understand if you're going on a week long hunt away from civilation, but if you're hunting close to home like I almost always am, I don't need that stuff. If there's anything at all significant wrong with my bow I'm heading to the bow shop before my next hunt.

I will acknowledge it's a pretty complete list & most likely everyone would throw up some different things.

No doubt I can agree with that big lake bass, just found it and figured I would post it to try and get some people to post their thoughts. You won't find me with a spare sight, or bow press, wool clothing, space blanket, topo map, gps, whistle, etc.

I do bring a lot of that stuff with me when I do my annual 2 week trip to ND. But to save room and the chance of not hunting I bring an extra fully equipped bow with on my extended trips. Saved me a few times. I found on my longer trips it is more important to have room for extra cloths instead of my bow press and other tools. I like to be dry and warm.

Holycow, that is alot of stuff you got there. I think that is going overboard. Even when I'm going on a long trip, I don't even bring half the stuff. I usally bring all the main stuff like bow, knife, treestand, flashlight, licsences, backpack, 2-3 sets of clothings, ects. I guess everybody have their own needs, so I wouldn't say it's crazy.

Was coffee on that list?

I've been know to take a book with for the early part of a hot weather evening hunt, when you don't expect a lot of movement. Especially if I'm hunting what I don't necessarily think is a grade A stand site. Sometimes I hunt spots that I don't think are great, on more of prospecting run. Occasionally they turn out to be much better than I thought they'd be.

When I travel outstate for a week or two,I usually carry all the above mentioned items, what are you going to do when you run into a problem when you are 3 hours down river with travel time to the nearest town. You have to be prepared.

BB- I normally play it (gameboy) in the stand just as I see a deer do I set it down grin.gif

List looks pretty big but ideal for a hunter that will be in the various season's. Use it as a "guide" to what you could take out on your next hunt. I think it is good to give a heads up on some of the stuff that we can typically overlook from time to time.

    • As a recovering machinist, I can appreciate that.  If the spec is 0.001 - 0.0015, then clearly the correct measurement is 0.00125, duh…
    • I just figured that it is easy enough to just get a 3 bank so when the boat is not in use I can keep all 3 batteries charged. I have not bough a charger yet, maybe I will give it some more thought. Edit: After thinking this over, with the size, weight, and heat output of the charger (as well as the cost) I think it makes sense to just buy a 2 bank charger, I have a smaller charger i can use on the starting battery when the boat is sitting at home. Forgive me, for i am a retired engineer and I have to obsess over everything...
    • Congrats on the motor!  I think you’ll like it.   I can’t say much on the charger location but I’ve seen them under the lid in back compartments and under center rod lockers.  160 degrees is more than I expected to hear.   Curious why you’re opting for a 3 bank charger with a 24V trolling motor.  Unless you don’t feel you be running you big motor enough to keep that battery up as well?
    • I did buy an Minnkota Ulterra, thanks for the recommendations. I had a bunch of Cabela"s bucks saved up, which helped. Now i need to get an onboard battery charger. Where do you guys mount these things in your boat? The manufacturer I am looking at {Noco genius) says tht their 3-bank charger will run at 160 degrees, seems like a lot of heat in an enclosed compartment? Thanks for any input on this.
    • You're very lucky a troop of Sea Monkey's didn't carry you away.
    • Wasn't terrible at a state park beach. Antelope island maybe.  I wouldn't recommend it as a beach destination tho.  Figured I was there, I'm getting in it.
    • The water looked and smelled disgusting with hundreds of thousands of birds sh*tting in there.  About as gross as the Salton Sea. When I duck hunted there I didn't even want to touch the water.
    • It's kinda gross with the algae in the summer but I got in it anyway.  Wanted to see the increased bouyancy at work.  You can kinda tuck yourself into a ball and you'll just float with your head above water.  When dry off you look diamond encrusted with the salt.
    • We went to the flats too. I dipped a tire on the rental car onto it just to say I’ve been there, but it was still pretty soft from winter melt. After seeing some moron in a BMW suv get dragged out of the muck I had no intention of repeating his stupidity.
    • I've been out on the flats. It's like being on a different planet
