white tail fawns

Recommended Posts

I headed out this morning (camera along also)looking for a blue berry patch near Little Swan hwy#5 area by hibbing)...I came across these 2 twin spotted fawns munching on clover along the highways shoulder....I pulled over and tried to get the camera out quickly thinking they were going to run off...........amazingly...they didn't!...they walked into the ditch about 10' away and just stared at me!..go figure!...then i got eVen closer for these pics and they didn't even care!...if anything...they seemed curious!....got some great pics!........not sure where the mother doe was ....maybe she got hit by a car ....no sign of a deer car collision or anything....but after all my 56 years in the woods have I have never been this close to whitetails and not have them flee!.....a great photo day for sure!.......jonny

nice photo,Tom!......and love the deep colors you use also....It's tough to close to these deer at all let alone get close enough for a decent shot...any deer pic that isn't "running" is a good pic..lol!(usually the white flags waving as they are running in the opposite direction)......I have a twin fawn pic (which is my personal favorite)that I haven't posted yet ....I've added some extra color from photo elements and "picasa"...I find, at times, the photo may be taken at the time of the day ,the overhead sun may be to bright or overcast so I "add" what colors I think would help the photo ...

here's what a guy usually sees driving down a country road.........lol! grin.gif...you see the deer...pull over while trying and fumbling for the camera...finally you either roll down the window or open the truck door...and you get the "tail" of the deer leaving the scene!... grin.gif

thanks Steve!......very true on the monitor thing ...I looked at my own photos that I had previously sent to a friend by e-mail on "his" monitor.......geesh!....amazing difference!...my monitor is set at rich vibrant colors(well,to me anyway) but others certainly are not....(his monitor showed a "washed out" image unlike mine...to much contrast I thought)...but it's what he is used to and what "he" thought was ,well..."perfect"...jonny

My monitor is calibrated to my photo printer, and usually when I save images for posting online they look washed out, so I have to saturate so they look overdone on my monitor to make them look good online. Life's all about those little adjustments, isn't it? tongue.gif
