A guy I was partnered with last weekend in a tournament had a bunch of them and I asked him what he thought of them and he said that he thinks they are just as good or even a little better than the curado's. I myself have never used one personally.

Well, folks I got to go fishing on tonka all day today with one of the reps from shimano.. And got the whole skivy on the new product line.. For all those upset that the new curado is going to be 199.99... Dont loose any hair.. its going to be ok.. So heres the deal...

The Curado for 2006 is going to retail for $199.99.. and will be as good or better than the old Chronarch. They really stepped this baby up.. HEG gears, ARB bearings. 7.0-1 gear ratio, One sweet reel..

Which means that the $119 reel the curado is discontinued.. OR is it... They actually re-vamped the Citica... This reel is actually the Curado Super Free that used to retail for $149.99 Yet will have better gears in it and will Retail for $119... So for all those running out to buy the old crado.. Hold on and wait for the 2006 Citica.. it will be the curado SF but $30 less!!!!

No essentiall the old Curado has then been revamped slightly and will have a new name.. CRUXIS.. this reel will retail for $100 I belive.. it has all the same specs that the $120 curado did..

So there you have it.. Change can sometimes be good!!!!

Hey deitz...so you went fishing with the reps from shimano and they told you all this? I mean it sounds good but arent "reps" same as salesmen? Sounds like they had a bunch of overstock reels nobody wants to buy so they give it a diff name to sell it.

Senko- I too would poosibly be considered a rep of shimano as I am on thier prostaff. The person I fished with is my bosses boss from corporate. Are they trying to sell product, yes. However, they are not willing to trash thier name in doing so. Shimano is quite happy being one of if not the number 1 selling reel in the world. What I told you is not a lie to try and sell products.. i was meely trying to pass information becuse people seemed concerned that the Curado was being dropped from thier line of product. These are re-desigened reels. Not unsold overstock.

Hope this helps, and I hope you dont take this post wrong.

Great news Dietz, unfortunately I went out and bought myself an early birthday present last Friday and bought myself another curado. Had I known they were revamping would I have waited?!!? PROBABLY not because I love the curado as is.

Sounds like some good stuff is on the way though for us, come on 2006!

I was at the new Cabelas this weekend and talked to one of the guys and he said they won't be getting the new curados until the middle of november. Also they are closing out all of there old curados (200b and 200bsf) $30 off and they had a fairly good selection of them. All new in box.

I checked Cabelas last night and they said it would be a couple of weeks before they got the new ones in. Their HSOforum says back ordered.

For those that like the current Curado, they have a Combo with a Curado/Fish Eagle II rod for $150. That's a good deal, I think.

HT- Ive held it.. and touched it, and I will have one by the time bass opens in MN... I myself am fine with the small amount of extra weight... but that is just me, I prefer a lither rod as its length I think plays a larger role in that.. but an extra few 10th of an oz in my hand mute.

I just noticed that this is my 3500th post.. man do I need to get a life.

Dang that's a lot of post!

Actually it's a full 2.4oz's more than the 100D! (7.4 to 9.8) That's a huge difference. Think of a couple of those huge egg sinkers tied on to your rod.

I've held it too, but I guess there's no real way to tell until you've put in a full day on the water. I can't decide which one to get!

Thanks for all your posts!

HT- you deffinatlyhave a point on the weight issue. However I look at it like this.. and in no way am I trying to sell you this reel...Buy what you want. But here goes.. I am really hoping you are a softball player. Its all about how the weight is distributed, baseball bats can weigh the same but when you swing them they can feel totally different.

I myself am going to get one of these reels, but it already to me has a specific goal.. Its going to be a carolina rig (stupid rig)(for those that know me, I modify my carolina rig and call it a stupid rig)rod... I am going to match it with a 7" Mh rod.. probably an IM8 Shimano Crucial extra fast tip rod. 10 or 12 lb test... I think a rod with this kind of ratio is perfect for those applications in which all you want to do is reel up the slack. If you want a reel that will reel in a lure fast, this may not be the one for you.. it will fatigue you. The weight may only be a small part of that.. but like any pully system, it will be harder to reel in a lure with this reel. This reel would be the last one I would pick up for deep running crankbaits or buzzbaits. Carolina rigs, Texas rigs, maybe deep water jigs, scum frogs...I think this reel could shine.

and thanks for the thanks... I never know how many people read the posts or not. I love FM and learn so much from it, if I can give back even a little of what I recieve its great. HT-if you are going to Cabelas this weekend for the Ice fishing expo, look me up.. I'll be selling aqua vu.
