Check out the garage sales around Mille Lacs lake!

My wife bought a tackle box in excellent shape with a variety of lures which included about 25 Rapala's.

She paid $5.00 for the whole thing!

So look for the sales on Mille Lacs where the cabin owners pick up lures that have floated on shore and put them for sale!

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!! wink.gif

I have to laugh. I had about 31 Jointed Shad Raps, #5's, #7's, Deep Thunderstick Jr's, Walleye Divers that I just dumped at my garage sale for $45. No one of those darn things ran right out of the box, the hooks were dull and they couldnt catch a fish for nothing.

So, I took the $45 and bought 7 cranks that work.

Great story Foot. Reminds me of a similar situation when I came across a full tackle box at a garage sale of an elderly neighbor. I as well mentioned the possible value of the wooden plugs and other items and she decided to hang on to them frown.gif Oh well, I know I did the right thing. On the flip side, my wife bought a small tackle box with a variety of lures, snell hooks, bobbers and such. $5.00! I would estimate the value at around $50. Sometimes you get a deal.

My #3 son pulled off a good one at an estate sale. He got a 12 ga. single shot, lever action.22, new DeWalt sawzall, Diawa Millionare reel, and an early 70's never-been-used Stikemaster auger with three auger shafts still in the boxes. Total:$200. I took the auger to Strikemaster and the company president gave him a 3horse, 12 inch Lazer with extention for it. And he thought he was taking me on the deal, since the company didn't have one that ran. Since the new Lazer was worth close to $500. , my son was pleased with the deal I'd made for him.

While trolling a 28' Hump in Hayward's Round Lake with my new cherished Depth Raider ten years ago I had the lunker of lunkers...you know the Musky that is so big that you can barely move it off the bottom.? It had these strange head shakes that would pull hard and the nothing if I gave it a little slack. I was finally making some headway in 25' of water when the 30# green XT snapped.

So having lost the lunker of lunkers, I layed out another fifteen bucks for an identicle Depth Raider and 80' power pro line. One month later, trolling the same spot, I hooked into her again! The same hard pulling demon fish.

When I finally got her comin up below the boat, I saw the yellow rope attached to my new Depth Raider. So I pulled the yellow rope up and up, and low and behold there was my old Depth Raider a few feet below the new one, both hooked onto 15' of yellow anchor rope. I got a pretty nice anchor out of the deal too.

Funny last week fishing in the river my buddy looses 2 rapalas in the same area an hour or two later my other buddy comes down and gets snagged in the same area and works it out of the snag and brings in not only his lure but my other buddies 2 raps that he had lost earlier....What are the odds?? shocked.gif

We were fishing in canada in a bay that was just alive with pike. I wouldnt have wanted to try and swim to shore. Here come two guys throwing jigs for walleyes. I look at my buddy and say, "that jig ain't gonna last long". Sure enough, that pink headed/white twister tail jig soon belonged to a pike. And then another. The two guys take off. About ten minutes later I caught the pike with the jigs still in its mouth.

Back at the resort, these guys are at the dock when we arrive. I take the two jigs and as I walk by, say "Here, these are yours". You should have seen the look on their faces! I just walked away trying not to laugh.

hsolist
for $28.00 including shipping. They usually retail for about $28 each. They're in new condition also!

At a store in town, the 13" Grandma lures sell for I think $18.. not sure but somewhere just under 20 bucks.. but still quite a deal for what you got 4 Grandmas for.. I'll have to look around, saw some on hsolist but didnt bid. smile.gif

Don't know why I didn't think of this before. I didn't get a chance to partake in the buys but I do know a couple of guys that cleaned up.

About 20 years ago a regular member of Ducks Unlimited in the Rochester area (he would attend 7 - 8 banquets a year) was messing around on his wife. Wife found out and decided to get a divorce.

He was in Canada on a fishing trip so his wife took all of his wildlife prints, decorative decoys and various other items he had either won or purchased throughout the years and sold them at her garage sale.

Framed prints were going for $50, shrink wrapped prints for $10, decorative decoys (some he had paid over $400) went for $50 or less the other various items were just a cheap.

When he returned home he was greated with divorce papers and was missing all his decoys, prints etc:

Its my understanding only 4 or 5 men got in on this Rummage Sale Jack Pot and I wish I were one of them.

PS- That is exactly the reason ya don't [PoorWordUsage] off mama!! wink.gifgrin.gif
