SCUMFROG
Some one just asked me if they were bought out and would be changing they're name, is this true?
Daze Off
Have not heard that one - could they be confusing Gander with Galyan's which was bought out and changed names to Dick's Sporting Goods - (Iaconelli's sponsor)?Daze Off
Deitz Dittrich
I have not heard this rumor.. and one of my best friends is a manager.. I highly doubt this to be true. Maybe someone was confused.. Gander Mtn just recently got the rights to sell boats.. Like ChampioN and a few other alum boats...
Superduty
Havn't heard about a buy out. I did hear something about Gander in trouble with the SEC. Possibly fraudulent earnings projections to inflate stock prices. This came out about the same time Gander pulled its sponsorship from the Wisconsin, Illinois and Minnesota bass tours. Ed Carlson
Must be late ice...it is rumor time again.I have not caught word of any buy-outs. If anything, they are expanding even more. There is or was a brew-ha with a stock group, some lawsuit about stock splitting and a discrepancy on pay-out formulas. That is common enough when any stock splits lawyers are quick to jump in and try to get a chunk. Yes boats are in the GM future, as are boat rentals. ATV rentals are another deal soon to be in most centers. Other nifty programs in the pipe too. Unless GM merged with another large sporting group..and I have not caught even a whiff of that..then is not too likely to be changing names. guideman
What I heard was that GM was put on notice by it's corporate backer that the money rain was at the station. They said GM had to make it on it's own without any more funding from the home office where ever that is? "Ace"

You all know that gander mountain is owned by HOLIDAY CORPORATION that owns all the HOLIDAY gas stations they are in no trouble of any kind. just executive decisions in what will pay off revenue wise and what won't as far as sponsorship, rentals ect...... For more information go to the hoovers HSOforum the Holiday connection was split a while back. That had to be completed before GM could go public. I should know, I used to work at the GM corp office. I beleive Holiday has some financial influence still as a shareholder in GM, but they do not own them outright.
matthothand
I just spoke with a friend of mine (he did not want personal names to be said), who is a member of the family that started Holiday/Gander, and he simply said that Gander Mountain is doing just fine and has not been 'bought out'. We didn't discuss details on financial issues, but I just thought I'd inform everyone that Gander Mountain is very much still up and running and continues to be one of the finest in outdoor retail.
