Earnhardt didn't win, it was the man that will win 8+ championships in his career!

Agreed, I love the fact that everyone in nascar hates gordon just because he beats JR every now and again.

I also think the homosexual comments show the class these "fans" have.

I do wish that Tony could have kept it going though, but everyone was gunning.

Not sure if I heard Gordon whine at all before, during or after the race this week or today. Fact is, they guy is one of the best racers NASCAR has seen. Not the best yet, but one of them. He has talent, racing smarts, composure, patience....everything the great ones need to win on a consistent basis. So do many others, but Jeff just gets it done. His team works hard, they have the knowlege and experience to make the right adjustments and in the end, he typically finishes well. Why put a guy and his team down for that?

Sifty, its just the typical petty jealousy of the fools who can't handle that Jeff Gordon is better than their driver will ever dream of being. Their limited intelligence is what makes them resort to such patheticly lame comments as calling him gay while ignoring the playmates and supermodels he dates after his numerous race victories and season championships.

Someone talked me into doing a stupid NASCAR fantasy league and i sat down and filled out a roster yesterday morning because i was bored. Im not a big race fan and definately not a big Gordon fan but i put Gordon on my roster so if he does good i wont be so torked off. It paid off for me yesterday.

Im not buying Gordon being the best. How many points championships has he won in the last few years?? I think because of longevity JR will be the better driver. Plus he seems to be a lot more modest. Gordon seems to be the cockiest driver around. I will say it seems the whining title has been turned to the 48 car.

I heard that about him too.Maybe thats why he got divorced shocked.gifgrin.gif

Lets be realistic. JR is a good driver and easily the most popular. He is great for the sport. However, he has a lot of points championships to win before he can be put in the same class as his father and Gordon! I don't understand all the Gordon bashing. Years ago it was "he can't win without Ray Evernham." Proved that he could by winning another championship without Ray. Better question, Can Evernham win now without Jeff Gordon?

Nobody in this chain of posts has said he's the best. He isn't, but he's one of them. The King in my opinion is the best, and I don't know if his records will ever be topped. How many points championships has Jr. won? I'd be surprised if he wins more than 2, 3 max championships in his career. It's so hard for any one individual to win a points championship now days for as equal as the cars are. Sure the new system helps the good ones out, but Jr. has always had trouble on the tri-ovals and if he doesn't figure those tracks out, I don't see him being a major player in the chase.

Oh yeah, and Gordon is one of the most humble drivers out there. He's always thanking people, keeping others that have passed away in his mind, thankful of what's been provided to him. Humbleness has more value than modesty.

It's interesting to see how people can only make themselves feel better by putting others down. For some reason, putting others down seems to be the only way they can justify any short-comings they experience.

Don't get me wrong here, I like Jr. too. He's not my favorite, but he's a good, clean racer and has lots of respect for others. He's honest and straight forward. But he's got to prove himself yet as a champion.

basscatcher: you dont have to win a championship to prove yourself worthy. Mark Martin is a great racer without a championship. Not bashing anybody, but you can be darned good without a championship. As any cup racer will tell you, all things have to work, and then you better be real lucky and not have any DNFs.Last year Busch won with a good year and got lucky with no DNFs,as most champions have had the same luck.

Ok, I'll say it, Gordon is the best driver.....In this era. Big E. in his, D.W. in his and so forth. I don't think that anyone can say that there has or will be one "best". The rules are so different. If Gordon was racing 80 races a year (like Richard Petty's era), how many wins do you think he'd have by now?

If you want to know my pick for all time best that would be Tim Richmond. Had he been able to race for 20 years he could have been the man everyone talks about.

OH MY GOD. You can't be serious??? Jeff has four championships and if not for the change in points system last year would already have 5. Only Sr. and Petty have more than Jeff in the entire history of the sport. He also has 70 wins and 50 some poles AND HE'S ONLY 33 YEARS OLD. What has Jr. EVER accomplished? He wasn't rookie of the year. An he has never finished higher in the points than third. Plus, he's only 3-4 years younger than Jeff. He has light years to go to even be able to hold Gordon's helmet.

GET A CLUE MAN!!!

I enjoy watching most of the drivers. I have a tendency to root more for the Hendrick stable and also the Dodge drivers. I guess there are enough people on the Jr. bandwagon so I like to be different. He is a good driver, but he is human and needs the right set up to win. His name goes a long way to keep the sport popular, and his father created quite a legacy. I just smile when people try to put down a guy who has accomplished as much gordon. Us yankee's are also late comers to the sport, which I also get a kick out of. Here's to the beginning of another great season of racing. May the best man win!

LEE HarveyY

I agree with you completely on that. Mark is a GREAT racer and so are many others who haven't won the cup championship. Each racer on the circuit has to be worthy in some respect or another (to be called great or not is another thing though). That's why they're there and we're all here.

I'm just a bit sick and tired of the people who need to call certain racers and people names or put the racers down for their accomplishments. No need for that in my opinion. Comments on sexual preference, whining or not whining, things like that. It's irrelevant to the outcome of a race and shouldn't be a part of the discussions.

And as for Busch, you're definitely right about him being lucky on his DNF's. There were a number of wrecks that he avoided last year, including the one race where his tire fell off and he still finished well. That was pretty amazing in itself.
