truck gas mileage (possible trade?)

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I was curious what people were getting for gas mileage in their 94-01 chevy/gmc ext. cab 4x4's. I was thinking about purchasing one. On that note: Is anybody willing to trade their 94-98 chevy/gmc ext. cab 4x4 for a 95 chevy blazer 4 dr 4x4 +remaining cash balance?

If you look at any 3/4 ton make sure it has 373 gearing in the rearend, the 410's will only give you around 11-12 miles pg.

I couldn't get the 3.73 in my 2500 Silverado HD. It was not even an option. You are right on with the mileage though. frown.gif

I did have the option when I ordered my 2000 2500 HD and I elected the 410...what a mistake. I get 10 mpg wether I am pulling my bobcat with a load of rock or totally empty with a tail wind. I know better next time.

I have an 03 ext cab Z71 with the 5.3. The wife manages 16mpg on her work commute. I usually drive the car during the week because my commute is twice as far crazy.gif. On the weekends when I drive the truck I usually average 14. I guess I have more of a lead foot than her and I'm usually pulling or hauling gear for fish/hunt etc.

I just bought a Dodge Ram SLT 1500 with the Hemi. I've been averaging 15 mpg. I've heard that if you replace the air filter with a K&N, that helps the mpg. I also plan on getting a tonneau cover for the box which should also help.
