Linehan Gone

Down to Earth

Recommended Posts

Will be interesting to see who the will replace him with. My initial guess is it will be Corey Baggett(I think thats the name) their current WR coach or possibly a college coach. Given the situation and what Red is willing to pay I can't think this position being all that attractive to other coaches in the league. Other thoughts..

Haven't heard this till now, I'll have to watch espn. Personnaly, it won't hurt my feelings. I thought this offense could have and should have done more. Maybe its just me but after every 1st down incompletion, what was the next play he ran. A run up the middle for 3 yards!

Until Red is gone it really doesnt matter who, because it will be the least expensive way to go.Viking fans need a new owner or the team will continue its sad ways.

You can't hope to keep anyone when the pay is below league market. Tice, who hasn't shown that he do more than a mediocre job, should have let the other two assistants go with him.

Not much good has happened with this team since Red bought it. The Vikings need local ownership.

Linehan got 3x what he was making here and more than Tice made last year. I think he did a pretty good job other than emphasising the snap count and Red Zone this year. We will get someone who noone else is willing to pay what assistants make and this will be an experience building stepping stone for them. Possibly the guy from the Jets but I really don't know. Doesn't say much for the org that he took another assistant job somewhere else but I guess he is big buddies with Sabin.

As far as Carter saying Moss will be on a difft team next year he is clueless about the team and I think he is wrong. I did hear a potential of a trade with the Raiders for Buchanan who is about 49 and a #1 which would be the 8th pick. I would be pretty surprised if Moss is not back.

I would guess they are shopping him around. Who wouldn't. He is a great player, but to be able to get 2 or 3 good players for one great sounds good to me. If a good deal came around to trade Moss I wouldn't mind that one bit. To keep him wouldn't bother me either, if he would lose that dump a$$ attitude and show some heart.

Yeah and walking off the feild is heart and letting everyone know that he takes plays off if the ball isn't going his way is heart too. When you have everyone else give it their all and he thinks that because he is the greatest he doesn't have to. Yeah he is good even great, but to say he has heart to play this game come on.

Dont get me wrong, I am a viks fan and wouldn't mind having him here. He alone can change the out come of the game, But if we can get a real good trade for him I say lets do it. I feel the viks can do it without him.

they already replaced Linehan with the o-line coach (name?), i'm sure he was the only one who would take what they were offering

If i heard right, isn't Linehan making more in Miami as a coordinator than Tice is as a head coach

If he takes so many plays off how come he has better #'s than pretty much every other reciever in the game. All other recievers must take way more plays off than Moss.

Did walking off the field in Wash have a big impact on the game?

I am not trying to defend his childish antics but I think the media has blown every stupid thing he has done out of proportion.

I think the vikes will be fine without him as long as they can add some quality defensive players. I still would be very surprised if they got rid of him.

His taken plays off is so blown out of proportion. Its not taking plays off, its lulling a defense too sleep. Why dont you ask Al Harris about the "plays Randy took off" in the playoff game. How do you think he go so open on the TD that iced that game. He acted as if the play wasnt coming his way and then kicked it into gear too burn Harris. Its all about setting up the defense. You run a couple running plays away from Moss's side, Moss doesnt come off the line really hard. Then you playaction the run away from Moss, the safety bites up a step, the corner is half asleep, and Moss gets 2 steps behind him, TD. We've seen that happen pretty regularly.

I'm not here defending Moss either, but who in there employment history hasn't left early from time to time??

A lot of his antics and the way he presents them I don't think necessarily have that much of an effect on the game itself, but what it does do is bring distractions and negative talk within the media and I feel it has to affect other players in the locker room as well.

Granted from a WR stand point the opportunity to "take plays off" does present itself, but if your Matt Birk busting your tail off every single play and you hear one of your teammates say he takes plays off or he just plays when he wants to it has to rub you the wrong way, no matter if that player(Moss in this case) is a stud. Moss just does a poor job of communicating to the outside world. I can't believe Tice actually encouraged him to call in on Barriaro's show, Tice should have know better. The Vikes should just bar him from talking to the media. I still think he will be with the Vikes next season. One rumoured deal is mentioned was that Oakland one. If the Vikes take that I think it would be a poor decision.

it would be Moss to Oakland (he would fit in great in the city) for CB Phillip Buchanon and the Raiders 7th pick overall in the draft. Buchanon wants out of Oakland, this guy is a stud shutdown cornerback, be good to have him opposite of Winfield.

I agree completely. I'll even go further to say that everything he does gets blown way out of proportion. He was labelled as a troublemaker from day one and the media has been watching him since. Sure, he says and does some questionable stuff, but has he really done anything to warrant the kind of persecution he is getting? Other than hitting the officer with the car thing, most other incidents have really been minor and somewhat humorous IMO. People bring up the "I play when I want to" comment constantly. Honestly, if people are that naive to think that all players(esp WRs) give 100% on every play (or even 80% of plays) then you dont watch enough football. Moss just had enough guts(or ignorance) to come right out and say it. Then you have the water at the ref thing. Come on! How is that any worse than players/coaches/fans who scream profanity-laden tirades at them most of the time. And walking off with :02 left? Not a good choice, but lets be honest, that game WAS OVER. If people want to reach and say there was still a chance, then they should be just as mad at the rest of the team and coaching staff anytime they walk on the field with time left on the clock yet. Certainly, its possible to score a lot of points in those seconds, right?? Then there's the moon at Lambeau. Honestly, with all that is truly bad in the world(ie war, disease, natural disasters, etc) if people couldn't laugh that off as a joke then we are in big trouble as a society.

So, what has he really done that is really that bad to call him a cancer?? There are guys out there that beat on their ol ladies that dont get the kind of sh*t Moss is! Players have a way of policing themselves when it comes to actions detrimental to the team. I think we would have heard more from the other players if he was as "cancerous" as portrayed. I think Moss is not nearly as big of a distraction as the media makes him out to be. In fact, and I think this has been said, the only distraction to the other players is the stupid media types in their face asking them about what another player has said or done.

Best thing to do with Moss is just ignore him except for when the offense is on the field and then use him for the weapon he is. I can almost guarantee that if everyone stops making such a huge issue out of every little thing he does, he will respond by garnering his attention on the field with his play. In that way he is a little like Paris Hilton. If we ignore the stupid stuff, she will be forced to do something with talent or go away. In her case, that would mean a bon voyage. In Moss' case, that could be frightening statistics!

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
