My wife and I were at the Sportsmens show on Friday and who do we run into? Those fine fellas from Midwest Rod and Reel! SO! We ordered two custom rods to be made and am I ever pumped! You pick EVERYTHING with these rods! Handles, blanks, guides, wrapping, and cork, In fact they had a custom walleye livebait rod that had only about an inch of cork! Now THAT felt sensitive!! Anyways! I am just stoked and cant wait for open water!!

Cory, it was great to meet you and your wife at the Sports Show. I am sure both of you will be pleased with your rods. I almost wish my wife thought every time I got a new rod she did to instead of a new pair of shoes. Hope to see you on Rush.

Its really great to see so many people getting excited about their custom rods.

I love my ice rods and am allready thinking of some cool stuff for a new walleye rod and a cat rod.

Yup, design the thing yourself and make Bill and Al do all the work!! That way you got more time for fishing! grin.gif

You couldn't have picked a better company to do business with. Bill, Al, and Jeff are the nicest folks we met down at the show. I checked out their custom rods. Over the years I've had a chance to look at lots of rods and in my opinion, you will not find any better! Not only did they have some awesome rods but they had some great reels to go with them. Bill and Al set my girlfriend Rene up with a spinning reel that has 7 ball bearings and a lifetime warranty with a price tag less than $30. For the best rods and reels on the market you can't go wrong with Midwest.

This past weekend my Midwest rods absolutely exceled in the finicky walleye and perch bite on LOW. The Medium-light rod is my ultimate favorite!! You can see a part of the rod in action, but the big perch blocked part of the rod in photo. grin.gif

I will be ordering a live bait rod from Midwest when the summer time itch hits, but for now ICE season is in full swing! smile.gif

Hi Cory,

I agree on that one rod. My wife and I stopped by the booth and they showed us that rod. We have decided to have them build one for each of us. I need to get down to Prior to choose the components. My wife needs the reel seat tapered a bit in the back (filled with epoxy) as her hands are small and she thought it would rub a bit in a full day of kicking my rear chatching fish.

I'm looking forward to the "soft" water season. May have to stop up your way and share a couple of "rum" punches.

Take care,

Dean Thorn

Cory,

Yes, I still see Jim from time to time. He is up in Brainerd now, living right between Gull and N. Long. Got up there a few times this past year and did ok out on Gull.

We will have to get together. Haven't fished Rush in a while. Been thinking of trying ice fishing it, will have to get a few pointers from you if I do.

Was planning on heading to URL and LOW Thursday - Saturday, but just had a death in the family and I think the funeral will be Thursday. Only been out on the ice once this winter and the thought of big slabs on URL helped to get through this cold snap.

Bill (Priorbass), great talking to you at the show. Once you put that rod with the inch of cork on it in my wife's hands (while I had to hold her beer) I knew that we would be ordering. We will try to make some arrangement in the next week or so.

I agree 100%. I love my 4 Midwest rods. Great rods at a good price and awesome customer service. They go out of their way to make you happy. I had some special tweaking done to my rods and they showed up even better than I expected. Bill and Al are fine sponsors of FM as well. www.midwestrodandreel.com
