New Auger Race...

I have a StrikeMaster Laser, 8 inch (plain old 2 blade) and every auger that I race it's either to close to call or I win...( have not seen a Nills so I've never raced one)but I can honestly say that if I owned any other auger than what I got, I mean any brand, as long as the blades are sharp and the motor runs good, I would never sell it for an auger that cuts through the ice just a few seconds faster, a few minutes faster yes, I would definitely buy a different one. I wouldn't care what brand if there was that much difference. So to everyone out there thinking about buying a new auger... go right ahead and do what makes you happy. I for one have owned my auger for 4 years and it runs and cuts great, no complaints, if it ever dies I'll look at all the augers on the market and unless there way cheaper or somehow better I'll probably buy another StikeMaster...but ya never know.... wink.giftongue.gif (just my opinion, from what I've heard it looks like Nills makes a great auger too!! grin.gif)

Please do not take this post too seriously. I did the video more as a joke. A friend of mine and I had a friendly "race" last year and people took the video far too seriously. I got a lot of "this was not fair", "that was not fair" stuff and I decided to have a little fun with it this year. grin.gif

LOL,

anyone who took that video seriously should work on their sense of humor. Granted it would have been a little funnier if he had slipped all the way with both of those augers. He looks anything but a trained professional.

Nice job, made me smile. They look like nice augers too. I hear they have a 600 hour service life on their Nils Master commercial grade Tanaka engines vs 240 hour service life on the Tecumseh motors the other big auger players use.

Service life is determined by running the motors continuosly until they drop.

If your going to race drilling holes include cleaning the slush out. Takes more time to do that then anything.

Quickest 3 holes and the cleanest, now thats more of a contest.

Better yet, anybody can run a throttle...soooo...break out the ice chisels....see who is up for that race Eh. smirk.gif

Fun video! - and yes I know its meant to be on the humorous side - but a comparison cant be made until you know the condition of the blades. I just put on new blades on my 15 year old Mora hand auger - and I could cut a hole faster with that than with my Strikemaster gas auger - with last years blades. Condition of the bladess makes all the difference!
