Hali Jig perch jerkin' Videos

Ok...here they are. Not the best quality but they work. These are big files (3mb+ I think), so you may have to save them to view them depending on your connection. My camera made the difference that day. If I did not have the my Marcum camera I would have only caught about 1/4 of the fish. Any of you guys use Windows Movie Maker? What quality is the best to save as for web viewing?

Bob D,

That is some great video! Which camera were you using for that? Was it the Marcum 560? What did you use to record the video from your underwater camera (video camera, VCR, Laptop, Digital Video camera, etc.)? I'd be interested in hearing how you record and edit your video. Thanks!

Thanks guys. I use a Marcum VS500. I was going to get the 560 this year and sell my 500, but I wanted the option of having the UV lights for walleye.

To record I have a digital camcorder withan A/V input/output for the camera and a D/V input/output (firewire) for going to my PC.

I did not get the new camcorder until earlier this spring, so last years footage was a bit limited. I plan on getting more video this year. I had about 2.5 hours of tape on Sunday, but my a/v cable was damaged and only about 45 minutes was usable.

I use Windows Movie Maker (comes with XP) to edit my clips. I'm shooting to get some pike video this weekend, but the water might be too dirty with the rain we just had.

cool vids. looks like your useing chicken skin on your jig there. them perch really like that stuff (sometimes)

what size and color jig are you useing? I usually use abit smaller jig, maybe if I go to your tactic, It'll help weed the smaller ones out. thanks

I think that Hali was about 1.25". It was a glow with a pink/blue tip. I had a green perch pattern that was working too. The camera helped me weed out what colors were not working that day. I tipped the jig with maggots/waxworms. I don't believe the size of the Hali super important since the fish goes for the dropper.

I have a Sharp VL-3ZU. I would not buy it again. Not because it does not work, but there are a few options it does not have. My next will have 0Lux for nighttime video (above water) and an external battery pack, so I can get a very high cap battery for it.

yankee, heh, heh, I hear ya, I've wanted one of them for quite awhile. It just drives me nuts when I'm marking a bunch of fish and their not takeing my offering. It would be much easier to see what they are, so you get an idea what to switch to. think I'll put some down on one this tax return, and then lay it away. Bob, could you explain more in detail why you choose the 500 over marcums 560?

My bet is he didn't choose the 500 over the 560 because the 560 is the new-improved version of the 500. The only reason I can think of is he saved a few bucks by getting an older model.

I picked the 500 because the 560 was not being made at the time I purchased my 500. Part of the reason I did not get the 560 this season is because of the $$. Changing cameras after a year would be a hard sell with the little lady. wink.gif

Rick,

Do any of you guys use Windows Movie Maker? I don't like the quality I'm getting in my video and I was wondering what is the best quality level to save my clips for web use.
