mtwalleye
Used my new Strikemaster Lazer Mag Xpress for first time yesteday. Worked great. Replaced a Strikemaster Mag 2000. Big difference in cutting speed. I don't think you can go wrong with either choice. My preference would be Strikemaster.

muchowja
Blades may be a deciding factor in your purchase. Unless you sharpen your own, strikemaster will be more expensive to keep good blades on. Jiffy blades stay sharper longer because of the chipper style, while strikemaster has shaver style blades. MnIceman
Puchased the new jiffy stealth 8" myself last Tuesday. Sweet and unbelievably quiet. I looked at all of them and made my decision with research and talking to a lot of people. I was told by a few people of hard starting in extreme cold for the eskimo's . Know a lot of people with Lazers that swear by them but seem to have blade problems. Have also seen some clutch problems in strikemaster in the past with cracking.I redrill old holes alot and decided on the jiffy because of the heavier clutch and gear box. Along with personal preferance for the chipper blades. I replaced an old strikemaster Mag 3 that has been pretty good over the years.Had mostly carb problems with it . Got to the point of keeping a spare carb kit, fuel filter and fuel line in the garage. Those little carbs are picky and stabilizer is a must. jltimm
Another vote for the Strikemaster!I have owned the Laser for about 7 years and cannot believe how great they cut! They also don't spin real fast which keeps your legs and boots dry and warm, not to mention the inside of a fishouse floor from all the shavings flying. federline
No one has mentioned after-the-purchase service: If you're in the Twin Cities, and you have a problem, it's a local phone call to Big Lake, where Strikemaster HQ is, and an easy drive to go walk in and ask for help. There's lot of folks here who have done just that, and posted how happy they were and that they walked out with their problem solved. What's that worth to ya? bj1
DROPPED MY STRIKEMASTER LAZERMAG AND BROKE HANDLE MY STUPIDITY DROVE TO STRIKEMASTER. 5 MINUTES LATER FIXED AND THEY DIDN'T CHARGE ME A PENNY MY VOTE IS STIKEMASTER ALL THE WAY!
waskawood
Which is better for re-opening holes that are partially frozen shut. A shaver or chipper style?
