oil and gas mixture for Strikemaster augers

kooba

Question

Allright, lets get this straight. What type of gas(oxygenated or non-oxygenated) and oil are you suppose to use for the strikemaster augers? Also, what is the mixture of oil and to gas. There was a post somewhere else, but didn't give me the true facts. I just got a new one and would like to know what type and where to buy the oil. thanks. KOOBA

I just use the strikemaster oil and whatever gas is at the station I'm buying it from. Usually it's got some ethanol in it. The mixture is 24:1 for the 8" Lazer Mag Express 2hp. There are folks that love the synthetic Amsoil. I don't know anything about it so I can't comment.

I run the Amsoil mix in my strikemaster and it works great, I also run the exact same synthetic mix in all my other 2 cycle engines, no matter what mixing ratio they were with conventional oils. They can all be run ( after a break in period with conventional oil) with the same mix ( 100:1 ) of synthetic oil. I bought a one quart jug, which will probably last me 10 years.

I tried the smokeless oil from Strikemater last year and while cutting holes in a 8x16 house I noticed it smoked the same as it had with the regular 2 stroke oil.I have Amsoil 2 stroke oil now and 'am gonna give it a go this year!I ran the auger outside and it didn't seem bad at all,but I'll have to see in the fish house?

What going on? I don't think I get anything from you boys. Get your email checked today. just talked to Beaver15 and said he is heading up to LOW and to Red over Christmas. We are too. Except a little later. Th, Fri, Sat of New YEars. Should be good fishing. Later. give me a call sometime. KOOBA

I think they may have changed the name on the one you should use for the small 2 stroke engines, just go to the Amsoil site and find a dealer in your area, then ask them to make sure you get the right product. Most of the dealers sell right out of their house and carry the full line of Amsoil stuff. This stuff is the only way to go if you have multiple 2 stroke engines requiring different mixtures.

Thanks Norsky! I ordered online after I got a response from amsoil cust service. They recommended the 2 cycle Saber Professional (not the outboard) for auger, chainsaw, weedeater, small engines in general. I'm anxious to give it a try, If nothing else, JUST to keep the cold air smelling GREAT!

Hey Kooba and Zimm, I am planning on making my first trip to Southern LOW the same week your going to be there(27-31), looking for a good place to crash every night. I usually go fish for the slabs up in Sabaskong Bay and am looking to catch a few eyes. Have all the necessary equipment for fishing, just need a place to crash and cook, any recommendations? Preferrebly a place where we can take the four wheeler straight from the cabin or motel and go out on the lake. Thanks for the help.

Whether I'm wrong or right, I just ran a tank & a half of Klotz oil through my Strikemaster this weekend. Oooohhh. It even smelled like I was snowmobiling!! To be on the safe side, it wasn't mixed at 100:1.

Chiroeye,

On Woods we always stay at Schusters and head out from there in the mornings. They are great people and have been going to the same place for 10 years. I think it would be hard to find a bad place to stay up there. Eveyone is friendly and more than happy to help you out. You can look on the LOTW report for more info. Good luck. Zimm
