loebs93
I like the concept of them, I just think its a little too much and I'm not impressed with the quality of the rod either. I don't own one, but I have taken a good look at them in the stores as I work in the retail business.

Matt Johnson
From what I've heard, Nature Vision came out with a couple new rods this winter, and I know one is a modified Buzz Stick. I haven't seen the new ones yet other than in pictures and such. The concept of the Buzz Stick is nice and I know a few anglers who swear by them. Me personally, I prefer to use my own jigging techniques to entice fish into biting, so I'm not big on using the Buzz Stick. But, the Buzz Stick still has a place in a lot of ice anglers arsenals and has proven itself to be a fish catcher by those who use them on a regular basis. I've heard a lot of good things about the Buzz Stick and a finesse plastic combination. Some people like it, some don't, I guess thats how things are with most pieces of fishing equipment. It all comes down to personal preferrence and what you are most comfortable with.Good Fishin,Matt Johnson
Lost
Saw the new ones at Gander the other day. They have a switch on the handle where it will constantly "buzz", one that intermittently buzzes with equal pauses, and I never did check out the third option. I believe it's "off".The other one the company is advertising (which I have yet to see) has a hollow handle with openings in it so you can put air activated hand warmers in it to keep your jigging hand warm. Guest
fished last year with buzz stick. In deep water I dont think it does anything, yet in 10 or less for sunnies maybe ok, but didnt catch anymore than spring bobber pole.
packattack
Sure doesn't look like the quality is there. I looked at them the other day at sportsmans warehouse and wasn't impressed.
WxMan
Guys: I agree the Buzz Sticks look like the quality isn't there, but in the year and half of selling them, I've never had one returned. The Buzz Stick works really well when you're fishing lighter tackle, such as the Genz Bug, or with plastics. If you tie on a huge Buckshot spoon and you're in 20 feet of water, it won't work that great. Sometimes all the fish need is for that bait/jig to have a subtle movement and thats what the Buzz Stick offers. When someone comes into my store, that's what I explain to them to make sure they understand the concept.
Guest
It does exactly what its designed to do: Catch ice fisherman.
Sportland_Bait
The new Buzz Stix are great for finesse bluegill angling. Last year's model was a bit clumsy but now with the new buzz switch it should fish much easier.Jason Erlandson
P Gottshall
I don't have a Buzz Stick, yet. My salesman buddy at Gander told me that he's been very successful, but you need to setup correctly. He said the issue most people have is just dropping a small jig in the water, as the line will tend to go slack, & the jig won't have any action. He uses a drop-shot rig, placing enough weight under the jig to keep the line taught. Then, he gets enough action on the jig that he swears by it. HunterHughes
Last year I made a trip to Upper Red Lake for Crappies. 2 of us in one fishouse. I am on the left, and my buddy is 2 feet to my right.Me, and the Buzz Stick with a Maggot, 18 Crappies.Buddy, regular pole same bait/lure, 2.It stopped working before the next time out though. The actual reel and rod combo fought nice I thought...
Ed Carlson
The button on the first series was a bit hard to push and hold many did not like that too much. The new series out this season has a new button that is much easier to work with. However, they have this tiny clip on the button that I see may be a problem. It is so tiny that in the cold you may fumble it and loose it. The mechanism and the rods are a nifty system for pounding a jig. A “Kewl Gadget”. carpshooterdeluxe
i broke down and bought a buzz stick last january and used it about four different times on lake minnewaska. at night i used a small jig/small minnow and caught more than a few walleyes, and during the day i used some very small shrimpies tipped with wax worms and watching through the camera it seemed to attract perch but not necessarily induce a bite any more than the crappie minnow on the hole two feet away. P Gottshall
I fish mostly Crappies & Bluegills, so typically use an ultra-light rod. Will the soft tip still send enough vibration down the line? Also, can I lock it on & set it in a rod holder? Thx, Paul
Matt Breuer
With the Buzz II you can set it and it will constantly vibrate. The new ones are great, and I didn't think the old one's were that bad. They got a bad rap, but it's a great idea, and the rod and reel themselves are almost worth the money. Just my .02 cents! P Gottshall
Here's some buzz stick advice I heard:If you just put a small jig on, as the rod vibrates, all the motion will be taken up in the line.To add motion to the jig, you need to rig it like a drop-shot -- put weight below the jig. Then, the line will stiffen up & the jig will dance. What 'cha think?Paul
I'llTakeWhatiCanGet
I got one for christmas last year, and i can't say that it ever contributed to catching any fish. I held a jig a few inches down my hole, and the buzzing didn't even twitch it. Later that winter the battery fell out and went down the hole. I felt bad about leaving a battery in the lake, but was not at all worried about losing my 'buzz.' The only useful technique I can think of for this rod would be to keep female fishing companions entertained
