Jiffy E6 electric auger

Got my hands on the new Jiffy E6 Lightning this season.  Man, they are built!  Big 6 Ah battery, solid controls, quick disconnect, LED light and USB charger built into the power head, ripper blade instead of shavers and a simple but ingenious blade cover design.  I’m pretty impressed.

I made the switch from my Ion for the blades mostly, the centering point secondly and then went to a 9 inch bit for the wheel house as long as I was changing.  The sheer heavy duty build qualities of everything else were all added bonuses.  Of course there’s added weight to go along with that but it won’t matter at all in the wheel house application and not much more when I get back out chasing lakers in the unforgiving north country where 20 below temps and drilling through slush rendered the Ion about useless last year.

I gave it a test try yesterday on 9 inches of ice.  Took about 10 seconds to get through.

I’ll try loading the video to explain the blade cover.  Nope, I’ll have to try something else.  Basically the cover has 2 spring steel clips holding it on the drill plate.  Step on one side to release it, drill, then center the bit over the cover and push down until it clicks back on.  Easiest cover I’ve ever used.

If you want a solid electric auger that will stand up to hard conditions, I recommend you give these a look.

No prob Del, just putting some information on the site in case someone is considering an electric auger.  I’m not a pro staffer for any company - no ties and I paid my own money for this unit.

I thought it weird Jiffy hasn’t been talked about much in the electric market so this is just a shout out.

The first version of this was kind of a flop. The battery manufacturer issued the wrong battery and told Jiffy it wouldn’t be a problem and it turned out to be really bad for Jiffy.

This is a new revised version and battery issues have been resolved. I have heard good things.

I was told that we will see some new things coming from Jiffy with in the next year that will be game changers in the auger world.

Thanks for clearing that up.  You were really enthusiastic, so I wondered.... "Get the Frabil!!!!"?

What’s your preference wanderer? The millwakee/ drill setup or this jiffy rig? I’m loving my dewalt drill setup for now.

I don’t know that I have one yet, or will for an overall #1.  I mainly use the drill with the 6 inch bit for panfish and moving around a lot.  The Jiffy will be for more stationary set ups and game fish.

Just different tools for different jobs.  This auger makes 5 that I have now.  I have buyers for the Ion so that will go away soon.  The other one I might finally let go is my old gas 8 inch Eskimo.  It’s been a great auger but doesn’t get used much anymore.  If the battery life of the Jiffy holds up as much as I’m hoping it will, I might finally say goodbye to gas.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
