Popular Post Sturg
I've been working on Wood duck pictures the last couple of weeks. I really enjoy watching their behaviors. I"m always hoping to see something new. You never know what you're going to get or what shots you're going to miss. This pair gave me a show preening themselves for about 20 min. The hen is in control and the drake follows her. I noticed he is the sentry and watches for danger when she is feeding. I also noticed they often time out on the larger logs in the water. The white specs on his head are actually water droplets. He had been feeding and jumped on the log and shook himself. This guy jumped off the log to chase another drake away from his partner.
