delcecchi
If you don't like Cilantro, you bigot, leave it out. It is just a flavoring.... bobberineyes
LindellProStaf
20 minutes ago, delcecchi said: I would thaw it out and taste it. Not like it will poison you, it is cheese after all. Cheese is aged in the first place. Does it taste good? then use it. Does it not taste good? Pitch it. or give it to the dog.... Good point Del.. I have wondered about "high temp" cheese. It must not be all cheese if it is "high temp" I am thinking they add wax or something so it doesn't melt as fast. ???? It looks good but does it have as much taste as cheese? BUT will buy new anyhoo and feed to the dog, who is growling at the patio door. Critter alert. Ok back on topic. I have 4 or 5 pork roasts left from the hog we had butchered. Some are butts and some are hams. Hard to tell till I open the up. Do you think it matters what I use to make this wonderful concoction of RH's? Sorry about the cheese talk I didn't realize you all have been saying the same thing. Just getting up to speed here. Good points. I am going to melt some in a pan with butter as the anti stick like I have seen in some sandwich shows. lovebigbluegills and reinhard1
leechlake
I'd wager the hams are too lean. But defer to either a butcher or RH and in this case he's both. LindellProStaf
LindellProStaf
I suppose if it is too lean it will be dry and not juicy?
delcecchi
Canadian Bacon is basically Ham made from the loin rather than the hind quarter.... So no reason you couldn't treat them the same.
reinhard1
Lindell, I would use the butts. Ham's are very lean in comparison to butts. I have to say one thing. What is bad for me is bad for my dog. Now I know the dogs digestive system is more hardy than mine but I do treat Lucy and the dogs I have had prior as family. To me something in the freezer that long is not the same and High Temp cheese is not that expensive. I say dump it. good luck. LindellProStaf
Yes you are right RH. Why take a chance. I will eat it in a ham and questionable cheese sandwich.... Maybe...... I am curious to melt some in a frying pan like some places on DDD do and just see how it melts.
bobberineyes
My pooch gets plenty of cheese, just not high temp of anything . Cheese is replaceable, live and learn I guess on letting things get buried in the deep freeze . If one is going to make sausage, might as well make sure everything is fresh.. lovebigbluegills and LindellProStaf
reinhard1
Boar, it's all about personal preference. You don't need to add cilantro, add what you want. ABT's are made with a lot of different fillings. Try it without it. I'm sure it will be good. What's important is that you like it. I have made different filings myself with these treats. I just thought this combination was good for us as a family. good luck. lovebigbluegills, bobberineyes and Boar
