A few observations - Pic heavy

1^st: Always check the cooking forum frequently, this seems to be the catch all for anything related to this page.

2^nd: When you see bets that involve smoked/cured meats from members, enter as you never know when you may get lucky (I did on the final score of the Minn – Hawks game and won!)

3^rd: When you win, the creators of the contest rapidly connect with your using HSO’s PM service which was nice.

4^th: When the first box gets delivered in a very short period of time, sealed with duct tape and the return address just says “Boar” have your wife open it.  I feel I am more bombable than she is.

 

 

4.5: Who is this BOAR guy anyway, don’t you have to be a socialite or famous to just have a single name you like Cher or Madonna?

5^th: The two boxes I have received, included a nice little note.  Read those so you know what you are getting into.

6^th: After you filter through all the bacon, summer sausage, beef jerky and Canadian bacon there is still one item left neatly wrapped in shop towels that I am leery of opening.  I immediately reverted back to the 4^th step which is have the wife open it, low and behold 2 hunks of smoked cheese one smoked apple-wood American and the other gouda. 

 

 

7^th: Try to explain who these people are that are sending us these treats to a 9-6-4 year old, their first response was “Dad, you tell us all the time not to make friends on the internet”

8^th: Explain to children, Dad isn’t always right.

 

 

9^th: Get mom all mad right before dinner as we ate the summer sausage, jerky and a big hunk of cheese, by the time dinner was done all 4 of us said we are not hungry!

 

 

10^th: Drool for this weekend as I am cooking up the traditional bacon and Canadian bacon Sat morning before one of their big swim meets. 

 

In all honestly, wow was it good and completely appreciated.  I will be checking the archives for these recipes and tricks, because I can only hope they turn out as good when I try to make these.  As for those of you who are against using backstraps for jerky, you need to rethink your position.  Thank you again, LoveBigBlueGills , Boar, and Reinhard1

I'm glad that everything was a hit with your family (despite getting the missus a bit perturbed about ruining your appetites).

The recipes are pretty simple for the stuff I sent, and if you have any questions, just ask and somebody will help you out.

Thank you for putting all of the pictures in your post, they are great to see, especially your kids enjoying everything. The smiles say it all, and made my day!!!

Hope you find some use for it.  Otherwise regift it Donbo.   I have owned the business for about 15 years and my wife and I make everything except we hire the neighbor boy to help us with some of it.  Great kid.

Boar and Lindell both cashed in too the previous couple weeks.  But knowing how much the three of you and your families enjoyed what I sent to you, I may just figure something out for this weekend.

That's become my biggest joy of cooking/smoking anything is hearing people say how good it is.

yup me too. i love sharing with brotheren. don bo id trade ya in a heart beat, i always can.use extra.of those. we have fun with them in the summer too wen were camping, bump one and every one turns to get the ghost fish.

I was fortunate to win also and got to meet ThunderLund for a few cocktails and stories.  I got some great looking brats, jalo and cheddar and  blue cheese.  cant wait to try them and thanks again Andy!

Good to meet you, Joe!  Just another testament to the good guys that contribute to this forum.  Walked in to a bar -The infamous "Liquor Hole" in Kilkenny, MN (The pun is definitely intended, you should see the sign.) looking for a complete stranger.  Not too tough to figure out who you're looking for when someone walks in with a bag of meat, I guess. Anyway, sat there and talked like we've known each other for 20 years. I really hope we can get a bigger gathering going - I think it would be more like a family reunion than a first-time gathering.
