Dotch
It's just the ranch and the orifice. It just seems somedays like I live at the orifice. I do have an emergency survival kit here just in case: A pillow, a blankie and a bottle of juniper berry extract. Only the "good" stuff, Ed Phillips. Going to be in Connecticut soon? http://www.shoprite.com/pd/Birds-Eye/Peas-and-Pearl-Onions-In-Lightly-Seasoned-Sauce/9-oz/014500005694/ or maine/mass http://www.shaws.com/pd/Birds-Eye/Peas-and-Pearl-Onions-In-Lightly-Seasoned-Sauce/9-oz/014500005694/ Looks like it might be only distributed regionally in the north east. I suppose making your own would be out of the question? frozen peas, frozen pearl onions, burre blanc (white butter sauce) Raymond Beurre Blanc Recipe courtesy of Alton Brown Yield: 4 servings Ingredients 1 to 2 shallots, chopped fine 8 ounces white wine 2 ounces lemon juice 1 tablespoon heavy cream 12 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cubed Salt and white pepper, to taste Directions Combine the shallots, white wine, and lemon juice in a non-reactive saucepan over high heat and reduce to 2 tablespoons. Add the cream to the reduction. Once the liquid bubbles, reduce the heat to low. Add the butter, one cube at a time, whisking first on the heat and then off the heat. Continue whisking butter into the reduction until the mixture is fully emulsified and has reached a rich sauce consistency. Season with salt and white pepper. Store beurre blanc in a thermos until ready to serve. --------------------------End pasted recipe. You could probably use a scallion or two if you don't have any shallots handy. Maybe along with a little bit of garlic. Any left over you can pour over rice a roni.....Might even make it taste good. RebelSS
RebelSS
O cripes, I knew it. Some greasy spoon monger named Burrito Blank fired off a recipe, and sucked ya right in. What would a 4x4 driving, rock and rollin' , female DJ chasin' guy be doing with a bottle of white wine?! Pickling eggs? Furthermore, my Reb-a-roni is delicious on it's own. I have my bag of frozen peas, frozen onions, and butter 'n salt ready for tonite. It's a MUST to have peas with batter dipped fish, ya know. bobberineyes
Tgif is right, sorry haven't been posting much, the Mrs worked from home most of the week, I'm not sure my legs can handle chasing her around day in and day out, thank God the pooch has pointing lines since he was locked up solid a couple times finding her hide outs. The kid came home from school and warned me about the getting up ultra early and hitting the road for some extra night driving for her permit tomorrow, kinda fun though, not too many people out early. Enchiladas tonight, red sauce on half and green on the other....see ya in the morning . RebelSS

LindellProStaf
Ya nothing like a good ol Clint Eastwood movie. And I sort of miss the Dixie Chicks. I thought they were pretty hot! The good ol days. Well now we have Miley Cyrus. She's hot too. By the way did you check out the Jolene song she does. I mentioned it awhile back. Pretty good actually. None of this is what I was going to mention today by the way, so things are going great! I made a killer batch of spaghetti the other night. I am having the last of the leftovers for work today. Ya I volunteered to work today. ???? And I wanted to watch the Masters. I guess tomorrow will be Masters day at our house. I might even warm up the camper and watch out there. The house wifi works out there too. I got the good router so it reaches there and the shop. I just told the wife to get the heat on and the slide out and we will even have a cocktail out there after work. Ha Ha now things are happening. It is a beautiful morning here. Cold (18) but no wind and clear. It is going to get real windy again though. When I went for my walk to the river after work yesterday I could hear the wind howling from the north and there were about 10 boats near here on the river. It was cold as you know what out there. I stood on the dock for a minute and that was enough. I wasn't dressed very warm. The dogs loved it. I bet it is the first time Buddy has been on a dock. He is loving it here. Well I did get the 2 pork roasts out to grind tomorrow too. 1 is a 4 lb ham roast and one is a 4 lb shoulder roast. Maybe I will combine the 4 lb ham roast with a 5 lb chub of ground beef and make a batch of sausage. Then use the 4 lb shoulder roast for the breakfast sausage and do it in 1/2 lb pkgs for breakfast. That will be food for thought today. I do have a summer sausage kit. I have never done that before. May be good sandwich eats. Ok I am done blabbering, I will check in later. Have a great day. LindellProStaf
Ok one more thought. For salami I am thinking 2.5 lbs ham roast and 10 lbs. 80/20 beef. Will that work? That will be a half of a 25 lb batch and would work good for me.
leechlake
It's great having a new toy isn't it LPS? You and the wife basically have a fort, like when you were a kid, near your house. Make sure you lock the door this time It was embarrassing stopping by to visit that time. I've got a great project today. I'm spray painting 3 metal air returns. Wife doesn't even know about it. It should take about 7 minutes but I've got to get some paint which may require a trip to Fleet Farm. While at FF I will check out getting some new fishing line. My rods and reels are at the cabin so that will require me go to the cabin next weekend since the weather will be nice. Since I'm going to the cabin the dogs will need tick preventative which I will have to get at FF. Since I'm going to the cabin I will need to get a new Battery Tender JR which they have at FF. See how this works? I may walk out of FF with some item for some situation that I don't even find myself in presently. Luckily, I will be prepared though. Maybe I will buy a new baseball glove at FF so if a 29 year old single mother hits on me I can play catch with her 4 year old son? I can see it now: "How come you got divorced?" "I went to do a task for the wife at FF and one thing lead to another." Back to reality...I literally said this to my wife last night when she came to bed. I'd been sleeping a short while and had taken some NyQuil. "Does your Chiropractor work on shoulders?" She asked me what I had asked and I repeated it. I woke up enough to realize I had said it due to the Health and Holistic forum. NyQuil is awesome! ThunderLund78
You operate like I do, LL. Strategically plan projects that involve stuff which requires you to go places to do/buy other fun stuff. It sounds like it would take a great deal of time just to strategize and ideate but after a while, you just automatically start to think that way. I think my wife can see through it, but we got that whole "for better, for worse" clause in our contract. It's actually advantageous for her, too. Because once she hears I'm heading to FF or the Hardware store, I get the list of a 100 things that she needs me to get because she doesn't like going to those places. LindellProStaf
Oh ya the FF is the fun part. Sometimes I walk out and realize I forgot the thing I originally went there for. Oh Oh! Really embarrassing if you get all of the way home and the wife notices before you do. My wife would laugh and then I would too as in "ok you got me".... lol LL, I was just starting a dating thing with a real hot blonde years ago and she had a 10 year old son. I don't think he wanted me to spend much time with his mother. Every time I was there he wanted to play catch. Football, baseball, softball, you name it. I just wanted to be with her more. He always had a devilish look in his eye too. He knew what he was doing. it didn't last. Dotch and leechlake
Dotch
Murnin'. Getting mentally prepared for another day at the labor camp.Got the batteries out of the mowers last night so am poised to make a trip to FF meself. Sent my black cutworm trapping data in and am in the process of posting weather data shortly. Got stuck with most of the chores this a.m. as Mrs. Cheviot needed to head to work early to get funeral flowers ready. Note to people: Stop dying! You're screwing up my weekends! Anyway, after I get that accomplished, should procure the straw and pick up the remaining brush from tree pruning along with the gobs of sticks from the constant gale force winds. Then Mrs. Cheviot thought it would be a great idea to dock and tag some more lambs and move them later this afternoon. This is starting to cut into my nearly nonexistent personal "fun time". Along with her insatiable appetite for chasing me around, I will be worn down to a nub. Think I need to find a good chiropractor. New kittens are growing. Finally got a chance to look at them the other night. Looks like all gray striped ones so far. The ram in that pen is a real dork. He'd just as soon hit you as look at you so one of us has to run interference while the other fishes the kittens out from under the manger. I often wonder what kind of sausage could be made from that ram. Toodles! LindellProStaf, leechlake and bobberineyes
bobberineyes
Morning fellers, coffee and breakfast consumed now it's time to season up a roast for the grill and little later on. The kiddo isn't feeling so well , so won't be doing any driving today. The dining room table is has turned into a small greenhouse, peppers are doing well, basil and cilantro just starting to pop up. The Mrs got a text from her cousin which helps run a resort on milacs and I guess the netters are out in full force on the north side . We should round up the boys for a protest....walleye lives matter..have a great day gents.
