Quiet this morning even though the office pest managed to find his way in here for the 2nd time this week. Even he has been getting spring fever with the golf course set to open today so his stay was brief. He just went to tell someone in the next office in here how busy he is. I like it! Should have most of my tax junk in order. I see what I'm getting for my money and frankly it sucks. When is all this "free stuff" supposed to show up again?

St. Olaf Lake has a ring of water around it so haven't seen anyone ice fishing since Sunday. There were some nice panfish taken that day too as reported by reliable sources. It cooled off a little too much so the ice hasn't completely come off yet. It has that dark color to it though so it's only a matter of time. Waiting for the rooster pheasants to set up their courting area on the edge of the lawn. I see the squirrels have helped themselves to the corn I left in the pheasant feeder so will have to replenish that. Don't want those roosters to run out of gas courting the ladies!

Dotch- "its free"  kind of depends on who you are and your attitude.  Let me give you an example.  

Wayzata is building a new elementary school and adding a zillion dollar addition to the High School.  It's free.  I also got my property tax statement yesterday and there is some line item regarding something called a "school referendum" and a number next to it.  Many people have that property tax included with their mortgage payment so since they never see that money going to the school in essence "it's free."  Other people just pay the property tax and since they don't write a check to "Wayzata School Construction" that's free also.  

Another reason "it's free" is because they had a referendum about 5 years ago that was to last 7 years.  They sent out a really nice brochure explaining that the new costs would not increase your yearly tax bill but would add a few more years aka "it's free."  Kind of like your mortgage company adding a few years to your mortgage but keeping your monthly payment the same.  Get it?  It's free!

No nap fer me today, it's Friday fer me so too excited to sleep.  Pooch and I had a walk, came home and caught up on a  couple emails ( must not have walked enough since the dog keeps bringing my shoes to me). . Taxes tomorrow morning,  then it's a meeee day. Probably hit the big H store to get some cedar for more bird houses then I'll just go with the flow for rest of the day.  Best get goin on cooking my swedes and onion rings then  grab some couch..

This is actually yesterday's post but didn't send.  Has happened before.    Cool, have fun with the grandaughter LBBG.  I am sure she thinks Grandpa is pretty cool.  Good luck with the tooth thing Coffee.  A buddy of mine always had tooth problems and had them all pulled in his late 50's.  He was so happy afterwards.  He said he wished he had done it years ago.  Good to keep ones teeth as long as they are healthy but not if it is a hassle.  I can't believe it is Thur already.  Supposed to be 50 ish for a few days now with lows in the 30's so should speed spring up a little for me.  I am excited to retire in about 3 years and think of it every morning but I do like my job and the guys I work with so don't want to wish time away neither.  I just try to enjoy each day and take it for what it is.  Another good day in a  wonderful life.  Takes a little salesmanship sometimes but it is all good.  Well see ya all later and have a great day.  

TGIF.  We got the results back for our taxes and whooppee!  It is good news.  I took the wife out for supper last night and had a good time.  Prime rib and shrimp.  Just got back from our morning walk down the driveway and back. Windy out but over freezing so should see good progress melting snow today.  Still a lot more white here than brown.  See you guys later. I will try to send this again.

Jeez, no one else up yet? 28* with FROST here...what the hey? Supposed to be in the low 60's today...time for burgers on that grill. Rain for the weekend, say the wedder morjits. We can use it, wash away all that sand and crud and get things loosened up. All the snow is all gone after last weeks warmth, hoping that's it so I can put the blowers away. Coffee's done, have a good Friday, guys.

Them wedder morjits say it's 20 in Deer River & 38 in Bemidji this morning. Highs in the 30's with some chance of precip by Wed / Thurs. here. A lot like spring the next couple days so everyone get outside & enjoy it

LPS-  good post and you gotta remember in life to celebrate any chance you get.  Teeth.  They are a bigger part of life than we know and take for granted.  In the last few years my dad had teeth issues he wouldn't take care of and a lot of people's social life is eating and he made it pretty difficult on himself and the rest of us with the bad teeth.  Keep your teeth healthy fellas.  (I should get paid by my dentist for that endorsement of pro teeth).

I started my day with an email to my banker.  I'd had enough of his love for "file fodder" paperwork and was in a position to tell him that so I did.  I'm sure I'm wrong in some capacity but I asked him to name one piece of paperwork I've ever signed that was looked at again once it went in the apparently highly coveted file.  If he has to wait 5 days instead of 2 days for something to arrive in the mail it doesn't make a dilly Dick worth of difference.  Maybe he could go cold call on some new customers instead of filling his day putting paper in a file.  Obviously I worded my email a little better than that to him

It looks like ice out will be this weekend...at least for the pond in my backyard.  I still haven't heard a red winged blackbird yet.  Always my sign that Spring is here.  Have fun today!

got the bikes running last night, fired them up just to hear the thunder again, dang pup got in the house and sent off an explosion of cat-tastrophy all over, wife spilled her coffee, and muddy pup prints all over the place. im currently in the dog house, but I got the bikes running, on top of that its tax day for use, ugg, we pay in every years couple grand. hate that dump, work our ars to the bone, I keep explaining to smurf what that means but he just gets in his car and drive around and says no no no, but in the end government wants more, make to dang much, and cant keep it. WTF

Mornin fellas, it's gonna be a great day.  Speaking of a grand congrats boar!!! I'll give ya another like. Teeth,  I used to have good chompers until a hockey stick took three of em, then to top it off the dentist ground what was left of them down too far so the caps kept falling off...but now they are bolted on but still some day I might have more yanked.  Well the wife says hi but she's telling me to get off the "blog " and make me breakfast. ..lol..see ya!!

Good morning all, work day half over for me. Going to make a batch of cabbage rolls for tomorrow for myself because going to a family diner and I don't eat lamb, sorry guys but there is something with the taste that my throat closes won't let me swallow. I got the short end of the stick when it came to the teeth in the family my sister is 54 has had 2 cavities & my brother is 51 & has never had a cavity, here I am at 45 & getting dentures. Can't wait to get it done heal and eat a thick burger or steak, been living on soft food for weeks now

I have two friends who have gotten implants.  They love them.  Unfortunately they are pretty expensive.  Cheaper in Mexico.

One guy has someone in Twin Cities who was a little more reasonable and he really liked.  They can do sort of a denture thing where a few implants support a whole bunch of teeth.

It was 38 at 7:00 when we were sitting at the end of the driveway waiting for the bus at 7 this morning, and 42 at around 8 when I got to town. It's supposed to get to almost 60 today and tomorrow around here!!!

Marvin is a p00p machine, he's got a heck of a village of p00p piles that are now poking out through the snow. I'm hoping we get about a half inch of rain to wash it all in pretty soon.

There's some bare spots in the yard, so I let the chickens out for the day, they were awful excited to get outside. They've been stuck in their house for a few months.

Yup it was Rosalies.  When the defecates appear in the spring as they are now I use one of those old 4' wide drags behind my 4 wheeler.  Was afraid it might wreck the lawn but works great to break up the defecate and looks great after I do it.  Our  lawn is not a manicured one as my dad's is but still like it to look good.  LL I agree the whole banking program is suspect too.  I now do my banking with the local hometown bank and get great service.  They actually seem to appreciate my business.  That is the way it is supposed to be.  A bank is like any other store, we are just buying money there.  If they don't have a good price on it and don't treat me right I go to another store that sells money and buy it there.  At times I have had accounts in 2 different money stores.  That always gets each of them to try harder since they know I can walk across the street to get a better price.  Once I was going to buy a house on the Ottertail River and went to the bank to see about borrowing (buying) some money.  The bank Asst Manager got my info and said they would have a meeting in about three days to see about approving it.  I thought that was wacko so I went to a bank I had never done business with and had the money at 1% lower rates and walked out with the OK in 25 minutes.  When banker #1 called and said I was approved 4 days later I told him I already owned the house.  It was not his fault just the same ol corporate dump.  He ended up quitting and went to selling insurance.  Not sure what to cook/smoke this weekend but am looking forward to whatever it is.

I am sure we will spend some time in the new camper and try to get Bob the Cat more used to it.  lol  She just does not like being out of her domain.  She may not be a camper cat. I thought it would be fun to have her on a leash beside my lawn chair.  May not happen.  Ok I have been too windy here so see ya all later again.  Kudos to all of you.
