leechlake
I had one thing on my Christmas List- Amazn Pellet Tube Smoker...didn't get it. For those that have one any suggestions on making one out of a can or bending some wire mesh or screen door material and make one? These Winters keep me begging for experimental projects and I know the things are only about $20 to buy but want to tinker. Any suggestions, thanks. reinhard1
Kris, don't take my uninformed view on this but the tube smoker is well worth the price. I thought of the same thing you did. Thought of the fine mesh fencing material and forming it ect. But by not being a expert on metals, it seems that it makes you wonder if the fencing material would stand up to the heat in short term or over time. Maybe others can give you more advise and have the tools to form a stainless steel tube that would last. good luck. JP Z
leechlake
thank Rhino you've got me thinking it isn't going to work tip 1. A soup can doesn't work for one practical reason. When you use a torch to light the pellets in the can and then grab the can with your hand you end up with burnt fingers. ThunderLund78
Not saying it can't be done, but I second RH's statement. Simple, effective and cheap! I don't even use my chip pan anymore. JP Z and reinhard1
delcecchi
a drill and some pipe. black iron instead of galvanized unless you want to burn off the galvanized coating. Drill a bunch of holes.... Cap one end.
bobberineyes
Black iron rusts, unless your thinking route iron. ya know LL I do like your thinking. I move mine around from either Re lighting or from grill to grill. This tube idea has some room for improvement. ..I'll consider us business partners. reinhard1
delcecchi
OK, get a piece of 1/8 inch hardware cloth. Roll in cylinder and close up one end. Put in fire to burn off zinc. About a buck per tube. You want cheap, I give you cheap. reinhard1

JP Z
Leech, Todd from Amazen is a great guy, and you gotta love it's a MN company. He sends out coupons quite often, next time I see one I'll fire it over for you. Although I'm right with you on loving to tinker and thinking I can make something "just as good" Although that shelf of C-rap that I tried is starting to move over to another shelf........yeah I'm not as "handy" as I try to tell myself. leechlake
ThunderLund78
I couldn't find it in any stores (although I'm sure there's a few) but I ordered the 18" A-MAZ-N tube online. 6 hours of steady smoke! You can load it partially for shorter durations or just extinguish the embers and leave what's left for next time. reinhard1
JP Z
I have the 6" "Grenade" tube as well as the tray, honestly I use the tray more than the tube but that was the first one I have so it's more sentimental
