Popular Post leechlake
Picked up a 4-1/2 lb pork shoulder to smoke for sandwiches tonight and some pork hocks to smoke for Labs Kraut Concoction to make tomorrow. Lathered the shoulder with some mustard and put the rub on. Put the thing in the kitchen sink where the dogs could no way get at it and put a plate on top. Was on the phone for a while and came in to grab the shoulder and put it on the smoker. Sink was empty and my wonderful 1 year old lab had created about a 3 pound pork shoulder out of it.She tenderized it and dragged it on the floor to coat all sides with lab hair and golden retriever hair. Little sand on it too. I rinsed it off and started over, it's on the smoker right now. Won't take as long and probably will taste awesome!!! I think she's mad we didn't go grouse hunting today, she is a female... LindellProStaf, JP Z, gunner55 and 4 others

reinhard1
They do look great Leechlake!!. You probably hot smoked them. Pop's brine is in my Smokin Hot page. I have the step by step with hocks there. The brine will give it that authentic hammy flavor. good luck.

leechlake
If I killed all my dogs that ate stuff I'd be hunting alone every Fall. I'm looking at a ten year old lab that ate a 4 pound whole chicken a few years ago. She also ate four rib eyes from Thielens off the counter one night. We had pizza. RebelSS
But we still love them, don't we? Mine hopped up on my chair one morning and ate my entire bowl of raisin bran and toast. Guess he was getting sick of the egg he got once a week in his food. icehole10
Had a similar incident happen at our house a few years ago, my mom was staying with us and left some ribs a little to close to the edge of the counter, walked out of the kitchen for a minute, came back in and they were on the floor. Still not entirely sure which one of my dogs it was, as they both looked guilty as heck!! chaffmj
LindellProStaf
When I bought my first Weber many years ago I so excited to cook something great. I bought a 5 or 6 lb ham. I slow cooked it on the Weber one Sunday afternoon. A buddy came over and we pigged out at the picnic table. Another buddy stopped by and we were talking by his car. Quite awhile later we looked at the table and the ham was gone.... My dog had it and drug it into the yard and was chewing what was left of it. Mainly the bone. I almost kicked my own one-just-like-silly-me. If I was him I would have done the same thing. I never let that happen again...My fault. chaffmj
bobberineyes
Some dogs are like that though, my first lab not sure if it was pure excitement of getting to the cabin but he jumped right up on the long kitchen table, walked across it and jumped down on the other end....was no food on it but still, took some seeds to try something like that ... chaffmj
