Hawg
I tried a few searches and am getting very limited results. Did we start over with the new page? We can't even use the word s-i-t-e- anymore? It changes to page? Edited September 2, 2015 by Hawg
brian6715
I noticed this as well, as I searched some stuff on google and it brought me to just the HSO homepage instead of the forum post (on multiple posts as well!)This is extremely disappointing as there is SO much information from the past, and with the forums being so dead it's going to take years to replenish even a fraction of that information. Agronomist_at_IA
Maybe it is just me, but I really preferred the old style s-i-t-e. I find myself visiting way less now, and really dislike the flow of the new one. I wish we could go back to the old one. nofishfisherman
I didn't care for the style change either but after getting used to the new page I've gotten to the level of indifference on the new style. It works and after getting used to it i can find most of what I want, unless the post I'm looking for happened to be on the other page, I can never remember which page I was looking at when I read a particular post, drives me nuts.. Thats probably the reason I find myself visiting a lot less. I used to visit numerous times a day. Now I'm on maybe a couple times a week and I've also gone a couple weeks between visits, before the change that was almost unthinkable. For me there are too many little gimmicky things (liking posts, status updates, reputation points, etc). This isn't facebook and I don't think it should try to be. The beauty in the old page was that it was simple and effective. I believe generally people want good easy to access content, thats all available in one spot. Thats really all people want and with that the page would be successful, I really believe that is where the focus should be versus all the other stuff. Hawg
Hey moderators, chime in. Is that huge wealth of knowledge gone from the old HSO? That was a valuable resource. I put in stainless steel winch cable and got 3 responses and one didn't apply, there used to be pages and pages.

Be sure you follow the threads you want to keep track of. The Follow button is an important tool where you keep track of threads, forums and members who post information you like to see.As soon as the next forum upgrade comes you will be able to locate all of the activity you want to follow right from the top menu bar. You will be able to arrange the info you want to see in ways you want to find it. Pay attention to the top Menu bar and when you see it change, play with it for a while and see what you think. This added feature should be coming in October.Hey moderators, chime in. Is that huge wealth of knowledge gone from the old HSO? That was a valuable resource. I put in stainless steel winch cable and got 3 responses and one didn't apply, there used to be pages and pages. You can find all of the old posts going back to 2001. I found this thread searchingAll the old threads are still in the forums, fact is, we took a buch out of the archives and made even more posts available. Use the search box on the upper right of the top menu bar. I typed in a term @Hawg used in a message to me. That's how I found this thread.Once you see how things work now (very close to the same as before), you will find links and app-like software that make it even easier to follow Activity you are interested in. nofishfisherman
If the threads I follow are somehow visible on the top menu that would be helpful. I don't want to get the email notifications every time a thread gets a reply so somehow displaying the followed threads in a prominent place would make it easier to find them again and remember which ones i am interested in. I'll keep my eyes open for the upgrade. Rick

I had thought I emailed them to myself before the new forums but it appears I must not have. I've went back to the old forum and logged in and it appears all my old messages are gone. Twisted
I've been trying to locate the old "Technical Questions" thread with no success. I enjoy reading it from time-to-time. Is it gone now?
pushbutton
Lol....hows it going Twisted! Yeah that thread was a classic for sure. Tell Dave hello, and hope all is well up nort. Just tried it and a no go. Suppose you could go to Outdoor Minnesota and might be able to find it in the LOW forum by manually going back and finding before it last let off. Tons of great info locked up between the two new sites. Hopefully the powers that be will figure out how to unlock it it. Maybe we could start a new one? Would think who ever moderates it now would be a little more "understanding" as far as the fun factor?!?!?
Hawg
Rick says most of it is still here and posted instructions above to find things but it just doesn't seem like it to me. I hope it improves because this page was phenomenal for information in searches. Almost any question I had I could find in a search but maybe it's a storage problem. I still like this page the best but I'm concerned by the lack of traffic/posts this year so far. In years past Ice was going pretty good by now with builds and renovations if nothing else. I copied a lot of good ideas off those posts and pictures.
pushbutton
Seems like the info is still there, but the search function is different from the old one...... maybe not as good, or maybe we just don't know how to use it properly. Is it gone now? "technical questions" was a bunch of nonsense.
Hawg
Pushbutton, if you're a Moderator and don't get how to use it just think what us mere mortals are going through these days.
