Wolves on endangered species list

Recommended Posts

Woulda liked to have a pelt for the wall... Guess not.... The life of one quickly and humanely killed wolf is more valuable than the lives of a dozen or more deer and moose calfs that are dissemboweled and killed horrifically.

Stinking lefty tree huggers can't seem to get out of their own ways.

Oh well.....

On a related note, have you seen the size of some of the giant mutant coyotes whistlewinkwhistle

I guess they haven't recovered enough yet, they haven't established in enough new counties. I think this seems obvious that Mr. Judge guy has family heavily in favor of stopping the hunt and the "isn't there anything you can do honey?" question came up.

Oh how the howlers would howl if we had a wolf hunting/ coyote tournament like they do in Idaho. They are allowed to kill 5 by weapon and 5 more by trapping year round I believe, maybe there's a season, google it. Idaho with much more variety on the wolf diet than we have are concerned about the prey species.

I was just reading about that wolf tournament in Idaho. This was the second year that nobody was able to shoot a wolf - although it sounds like they were too high up to be in prime wolf territory. Sure sounds like there's a ton of controversy over a hunt/tournament that so far has killed zero wolves.

To me it's one of the most bizarre things I've read or learned of. The talk of wolf numbers in the "lower 48 states" etc, yet Idaho has a free for all going on lol. 10 limit, they must care deeply for all of their hooved animals. We have 1 and a 1/4 hooved animals here and it's stop the hunt immediately ! The harvest this season was it 140K, add in what wolves took this year plus pregnant does and the harvest was quite good using 3,000 wolves as the number x 20 deer since they don't have many moose available, that's 60K deer figure maybe 10K fawns parish and the total harvest was 210,000 animals, that's quite the harvest.

I'm a bored soul, a fresh hunting season isn't so so far away I guess. Ok, is the correct animal on the endangered list ? 2 years ago they underestimated the mt. Lion pop. In SD from about 230 animals to a whopping 303 animals. So the SD crew uped the quota to 100 lions or 70 females whichever occurs first. We have 10x the wolves and our cheesy quota's i think were set at was it 240 this last season? I don't think a dent in that wolf population was ever made as quickly as these quota's filled up. No wonder they filled them so fast. If we have 470 wolf packs in the state they're producing more pups than the harvest #. I would think they have a great shot at survival, what animal is taking on a 90 pound ears laid back willing to fight to the death wolf mother ? None. A bear would even ah it's not worth it. Heavens no don't wipe em out, no but the state needs to step up and have some sort of a way to scale them back a bit and collect data like they are; speaking of data what's been learned from them doing so to this point ? Anyone got any info on that ?

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
