Townsend fish skinner works almost like a can opener. By simply turning the crank, you cause a knife on the underside of the skinner to separate the skin from the fillet. The skin comes off paper thin with the scales still on. Completely eliminates flying scales. Easy and fast to use. Rust resistant. Made in USA.

Save a hundred bucks, but you have to crank it yourself.

I always found the skinning to be easy if you left skin attached to carcass.

Hi Del and guys! I am new to the site and am affiliated with Skinzit as my father in law invented the Skinzit. Sorry about the music in the video, we are fisherman not musicmen, lol! Anyway, the Skinzit does rollout the rib bones and take off the skin very quickly and easily. Here is a video we filmed this last weekend in Devils Lake.

We probably cleaned 1000 fish last weekend in the public fish cleaning shack and at Woodlands. As guys would bring in their fish we would offer to clean them and show them the skinzit. We were filming a Wild Dakota show with Ted Takasaki and some of the footage of people when the see it roll the rib out of a 24-25 inch walleye is awesome!

Anyway, I would love to answer any other questions you might have!

Thanks!

To me this looks like a solution to a problem that doesn't exist but some guys like gadgets. I can think of one fishing buddy that probably ordered one already. I've never found any species of fish that were difficult to skin with a simple semi flexible knife. I certainly don't need to cart around more chit in the truck or on the ice. If I'm skinning a bunch I'll actually use a knife that isn't kept as sharp for the skinning knife so you don't cut through skin, and maybe use a fork to hold the end when starting the fillet. Then grab the fillet with non knife hand, Do more pulling on the skin and less movement with your knife and it works even better.

Leech,

They are onsale at www.fishskinner.com for $149.95. They have been an extremely hot seller for the holidays as well as having a couple of TV shows-Midwest Outdoors and Wild Dakota start running. The response has been awesome, but there are always going to be skeptics, it's all good! The unit is really nice for guys that maybe aren't the best with a knife, like myself. My father in law does all the knife work in two cuts, then I can run the Skinzit pretty darn quickly now. It is a tool that has a bit of a learning curve, but most people pick it up in a couple or three filet's. There is absolutely no wasted meat and it is fast to use and very easy to clean. They put a super high end motor and trigger in the unit, it is built to last.

Two brothers from Okoboji Iowa invented it, their parents owned White Oak Baitshop back in the 70's, and they grew up cleaning fish every day for customers. I cannot even begin to imagine all the fish they have cleaned in their lives, literally millions.

It is a super well built and engineered tool designed to save meat and make fish cleaning way easier!

Happy Holidays!
