Frog Fishing in the Wind

Or maybe the Heddon Moss Boss would work. Never used one myself, but always saw them in stores. I suppose a Johnson silver minnow might work. I got one that is probably 30 years old, not sure if I ever got a bass on it, never used it much! Might have to dig it out of the back corner of the lure closet and try it again. The bass probably haven't seen one lately!

You won't throw a spoon where frogs go.

Haha - yeah, should have been more specific. Not Red Eye Wigglers or Doctor Spoons... smile

I mean weedless spoons. Jawbreakers are the easiest to find, but High Roller PT Spoons and Title Shot Spoons from Fin Tech are good too. Barney Spoons are the best, but nigh on impossible to get your hands on one.

I'm not saying those spoons don't work but I've never tried them. To me its all about conference. I'd throw a swim jig or spinnerbait first.

Confidence for sure... I love swim jigs, and I'm getting to like frogs, but there are a lot of situations where I'll throw a spoon before anything else. Have used them forever and have a lot of confidence in them. Plus they're efficient. You can cover a lot more water than you can with a frog a lot of the time.

Who says you can't combine a swim jig with a frog! I started playing with paddle tail toads on my swim jigs and have been pleasantly surprised at the results. Very good hook up percentage compared to a standard weedless toad. My son added his PB about a month ago burning one of these across emergent vegetation.

I wasn't thinking Daredevils but even the weedless ones are tough to use in the heavy scum. Our bass are still up very shallow and protected. This is the weirdest year ever. The 3/4 oz Live Target frog works in pretty stiff wind for me.

Hey everyone knows jaw breaker spoons do not work. Lets stop talking about them.

Pretty sure I still have a dent in my skull from a friend's jawbreaker coming back at 100mph after a missed fish. Had my back turned and it nailed me right in the back of the head. Sounded like a Kirby Puckett line drive.
