dan sexton
I was lucky enough to be fishing a buzz-bait one evening this last July. The tide was falling and exposing the milfoil on a flat. I was showing a co-worker (who is just starting to bass fish) the proper place to present his spinnerbait when all of a sudden this bass enhaled my bait right in front of our eyes. He offered the net but I wanted this fish lipped...It weighed in at 12.93! What a thrill on the California Delta. Top 3 big fish (so far):1)12.93- buzzbait - July - right before dark at the Delta (CA)2)12.02- 10" power worm - June - Midnight at Lake Don Pedro (CA)3)10.92- 6" senko- February - 2 O'Clock in the afternoon (hour before weigh-in) Delta (CA) Super nice fish there Blackjack! And if I ever see you on my honey hole agian, people will know that we were at Sturgeon...shhhhhhSide-note: I fished a Tournement 2 days after catching the 12.93 bass. I went back to the same spot and had big fish of the event with a 4.92 (only this time caught on a blade).....so....if there is one big fish hanging out there, you can bet like Blackjack that there are certainly more in the same spot....***All three bass were weighed, photoed, then released to spawn more like-sized-future-hawgs!!Dan

Deitz Dittrich
Dan Wood-Was 25" in length, and cant remember what the girth was, on a dig. scale was 10lbs 14 oz.Caught it on an Exude tube, with a Penitrator tungston weight pegged 1 3/4 oz... Flipping into 4 feet of water underneath grass mats...Anything under an oz wouldn't get threw the mat.
vern
Thanks Dan, I was just curious. Like you said, at some point they stop getting long & start getting fat. I can relate also! The belly is huge on that bass. I have a habit of measuring all my fish. I've always had the tape measure stickers on both ends of my boat. I tape everything, bass, panfish, cats, etc. Nice fish too Exudedude! Vern
dan sexton
Hi Vern, To answer your question, I have not been messuring the length of the fish, unless I need to have a 13" fish to make a limit in an event. I notice that you all messure your fish here in Minn. It's just that once a bass gets to a certain length, I'll speak for myself here. It's like me, I get to a certain hieght I start growing in my butt and gut and I haven't seen any bass-atkins diets or YBCA's in the underwater world yet...We have lakes in Northern California that have slot-limit's to inspire trophy lakes. The slot-limit varries, but one lake is: you can keep fish under 12" and over 15". In tournaments here a 15" fish can weigh less than a pound...the slot-plan is not working here! But 50 miles south at a lake the world record Kentucky Spotted Bass has been broken 3 times, twice last year. It's up to 10 and a half pounds now.I will messure the next big fish for ya Vern...If I am blessed enough to get another shot at one...Dan
