Soderbloom's prop repair

Last Memorial weekend up on Rainy Lake, I took a hard hit and damaged my lower unit which the insurance replaced.

The prop on the boat at that time was one that Jay at Soderbloom's had done some extra work on it so it was perform as I wanted it to.

I sent the prop to Jay about 6 days ago and Speedy delivered it today.

I will say this, Soderbloom's do a fantastic job on the repairs as the prop's come back looking like new again and the turn around time is also fantastic.

One cannot beat the price for the repair.

Once again Jay, great job on the repair and the fast turn around time.

If anyone is looking to get one repaired or maybe need a new prop or have questions about proping a boat, one cannot go wrong contacting Jay at Soderbloom's as he is second to noone.

Jay is the man when it comes to props, skegs and lower unit damage. He does all my props and like Harvey Lee Jay has done some tweaking of my props to make them perform much better. Prices are the best I have ever seen.

Not bad mouthing Jay at all here since I've never had the need to use him, and I have also heard great things about him from many others. But how can he have a turnaround that fast? Most non-overnight ground shipping would take about 4 or 5 days total round trip. Does he trade yours for the same prop he has on the shelf already fixed? Those are some magical metal workers if he fixes your original prop as fast as it came in.

Priority mail is 1 to 2 days each way. Depending on what time delivery is, "about 6 days" minus 4 days for delivery leaves a couple days to fix the prop.

That doesn't sound impossible to me. If he charges say $80 for fixing a stainless prop, it only has about 45 minutes labor in it, maybe less.

I understand that, I'm sure there is no more than an hour total into each prop, but doing that with who knows how many other different varieties of props coming in and all them leaving in about the same time frame is pretty darn impressive. I'm sure right now is getting close to their busiest time with most people waiting til spring as well.

One day to Duluth each way. I've had very good experience with Jay as well. He tweaked my stainless prop and it came back looking like a new prop but performed better than new.

I have never had any issues between Fargo, Minneapolis, Duluth, Rochester, St Cloud, Bemidji and Alexandria having next day delivery via SpeeDee, UPS or FedEx.

If it takes more than 1 day to ship a small box from pretty much any major city in Minnesota to Duluth, probably should look for a new carrier.

I bet first class mail from Rochester to Duluth takes two days.

Fact is, Jay repairs your own prop. I would know if he sent another as I have hadJay do a few things to my prop that I would know if I did not receive mine back. I am almost sure UPS does in 1day either 250 or 400 miles. So 1day service anywhere in this state works. They simply have great service, not that common today but for Jay it is. My props always shipped UPS. I ship to Jay USPS regular ground .

A few of the guys here turned me on to Jay. He fixed the prop for my '63 Seahorse and also both of my big props. As said, he turns them around quickly and does a great job - painted like new each time.

Of course, I usually just send him my prop at the end of the season so it's likely a slow time for him.

Both UPS and Fed Ex are next day service inside the states of Minnesota/Wisconsin and Iowa when shipping using ground service.

Yes sorry that was my mistake, I figured if say I shipped on Wednesday afternoon it would show up Friday afternoon, seems I don't have high enough expectations of the shippers. Or maybe it's because in some of my experiences with Speedy is anything but that at times... And it once took DHL an entire week to go from Chisago county to Scott county...

Not only is Soderboom's a great place to have your prop repaired, but they have a great selection of new props and excellent pricing on SS props. I had to do a return because of a sizing foul up and the replacement came the next day. One other item that has been mentioned is that they can nail the right prop for your boat and motor with a phone conversation.

That could by why DHL is no longer delivering in the US. They only screw up international shipments now, lol.

I don't have any experience with Speedy but I thought I would point out UPS/Fed Ex as a lot of people don't know that. It's amazing how many of my customers order products and ship them standard overnight when they could have just used ground service with the same results. I always point it out to them and usually save them a few bucks.
