Let's see who has the oldest running outboard.

Just for the fun of it, I'd be interested in how old the older outboard motors are that are still in use. Please mention make and year and hp.

I'm sure it's not the oldest by far, but I rebuilt a 3hp 1957 Johnson Seahorse the other year. I need to pull the carb one last time and clean it but it runs, just not perfectly smooth.

For duck hunting I run an original 1955 5.5 johnson. Still runs great!

I see I'm already to late for the oldest but it's a 62 Evinrude 6 hp.Not on a boat but completely rebuilt.It's ran at least every spring & fall,2 or 3 pulls & it's purring.

Doesn't need to be the oldest. I just think it's interesting to see how long some motors are running. It appears the smaller ones are doing pretty good.

I just sold my best friend my 2.5 horse Johnson 1940. I have a 5 horse Johnson at that is a 1942 that runs, but it is going into my mans room. Crazy thing is I had box original boxes.

The smaller ones are doing well because the larger HP motors wernt around back then.

But these are actually tiny. How about a few in the 25 - 50 horse range.

I run a 1973 Evinrude lark 50hp, just rebuilt the engine block so should be good to go for quite a few years.

I had a 76? 20 merc (from before the 18 and 25 were introduced). I sold it to a guy that I know. He is still running it over on Mississippi.

My grandfather has a 1958 or 1959 16' Alumacraft "Alumaglass" runabout with a 40 horse Johnson "super seahorse " he wants me to take. He was the original owner. Runs perfect. Beautiful red / white boat, probably only has about 500 hours on it. Only problem it ever had was a bad magneto about 25 years ago.

I have a running 5 horse Johnson Seahorse, 1950 or 51. There is no reverse. It is made to turn spin 360 degrees. The throttle is a slide bar on the bottom of the engine. 35 years ago I paid $100.00 for it and it was the first motor I ever purchased. I put it on my first boat which was a 12 foot car topper. I sold the boat a year later, but kept the motor. I haven't used it much since then. I have received several offers from buyers, but for some reason I just keep it around. I guess it is just nostalgia. I still fire the motor up every now and then and it still runs pretty good.

Question: Does anybody own one of those motors that folds up and fits in a case???
