Walleyehooker
I have a towtector brush type that seems to work good in the summer but I take it off in the winter as snow tends to stick to it and build up at times.
Capt. H (Ret.)
I also have the towtector and every once in a while when I am washing the truck I notice small rocks etc. caught in the brushes so I think it helps protect the boat and trailer some. I like mine.
dan z
Get some long mud flaps that are wider than your tire a smidge and when I mean long I mean a couple inches off the ground. My brother had some semi ones cut down and they worked awesome on his dodge ram. Plus they protect your fenders from scum and such in the winter. 3andadog
I tow with the brush style. Have not had any issues but I usually don't tow down gravel roads. I would think they would really make a difference when used in that situation. Only takes a second to install.
acroman
I used a brush type when I would tow my glass boat and seemed to work well. At least I never noticed any nicks. The important thing is to make sure it is low enough 3-4 inches off the ground when towing.
JohnMickish
I use the Rock Tamer brand and like it. It does its job just fine. I have several friends with Tow Tectors as well and they all like them too. I'm not sure what sucks about them, they are big and they are ugly and if they weren't they wouldn't be able to do their job.
Carpenter
i have a towtector and it does what its suppose to. wife hates it and the buddies give me dump for my hula skirt, but my boat has less chips that theirs. id really like to get/fab a montana rock knocker setup, but theyre spendy
